In the wards of Tokyo, Japan, there in those wards live the monsters that prey on Humans. The so-called beasts that live to destroy and takeover, using humans as simple breeding stock for meat and other activities.

To humans, Animals were the food source, to ghouls, they were the food source and yet, with this ever-evolving chain of command, should anyone break it? Should there be the ones that rise above impulse and complete lust for the things they crave? If there were such things as these people, where are they? Why don't they break the system? They can't because:

The system broke them first...

20th Ward - Antieku

Sipping the divine coffee made by Yoshimura-San was a man with black hair, he was reading a book, Dear Kafka, by Sen Takatsuki. He found the piece interesting and at often times, connecting the dots with his own life that had often eluded him for quite some time. The man looked to be the same age as Sen, which is probably why he drew some connections.

He wore a Black bomber jacket, with a backward baseball cap. He wore a white dress shirt underneath, with black slacks and boots, overall, it was a mix and match of clothes. Almost like he was going for relaxing, but also serious. Either way, he pulled it off well, regarding the looks that he had gotten from his adoring population of females looking to him like he was a saddle and they wanted to have a ride.

"Riyaki-Sama, the Manager asked me to see if you would like anything else?"

Riyaki, as he was now named, looked to the indigo-haired waitress, Touka. He found her a delight but knew that she was putting on an act, she had the body language, but her eyes told the truth, she did not want to be near him or anyone here. It was clear, but she had to do something, to which, he could hardly fault her. He just gave her a closed eye smile, before speaking in a light tone.

"Heh, no Touka. It's okay unless you would like to sit down and join me in a conversation on how you are doing in school. Otherwise, I believe that I can just get the bill."

Hoping that would send her scattering like a bird, Riyaki opened his eyes, hoping that like a game of peek-a-boo, she would go from his sight. Only, this game was not his favorite, as she stayed in his view and sat down opposite him, on the inside, he was annoyed slightly and his interest peaked. On the outside, he maintained his usually friendly smile, knowing that he did not want to send alarm bells ringing to them or the residents of Antieku.

"Well, Riyaki-Sama-"

He coughed lightly, drawing her attention onto him like one would when a teacher called attention to the class.

"Just Ri, Touka, we've known each other long enough..."

For a fleeting moment, Riyaki thought he imagined a rather genuine smile twitching at Touka's lips, but he brushed it off, knowing that the girl could fake a genuine smile as easy as any other person looking to gain something.

"Ri, I was just wondering, my friend, well, she is worried about the recent sightings of ghouls. Especially the newest one, Ayori. She's scared, she just wants to survive, she does not want to be the next victim of a ghoul..."

Riyaki nodded as he heard Touka with a bland tone that would have fooled most people, then again, he was hardly most people. He could tell that Touka was worried about her friend, worrying if that she was going to be next. The Ghoul attacks had been happening a lot recently, not even the newest organization, Aogiri. Was involved, it was intriguing, but not enough so that Riyaki would seek it out.

"Touka, I do believe your friend has nothing to worry about. The attacks have been in the wards, one through five specifically. It seems...this Ayori? As you said before has a grudge that needs settling over there. I doubt he would come to the peaceful place that is the 20th Ward, besides, Ghouls are not even here, if I do believe so myself..."

If Riyaki was another person, he would have not noticed the way Touka turned her head to the side, as if she was thinking of telling him something, only they were interrupted by the manager, Yoshimura-San. Someone who came off as peaceful and friendly to Riyaki, to which he bowed his head in respect.

"Yoshimura, it's nice to see you! I was just informing your employee here, of there never being a ghoul attack, considering that no one has ever stepped in the 20th Ward to cause trouble. It seems unlikely, anyway, can I get the bill, please? I have a book signing to get too."

Riyaki asked once more, knowing that Yoshimura usually granted him what he wanted, but this time, he waved his hand, as if to say that it was free. Only he did not listen, he pulled out his wallet and placed 100,000 Yen down on the table, leaving Touka and Yoshimura to stand there shocked, at the amount of money that Riyaki had placed down, before they could even say thank you, the familiar ding of the door was heard and he was nowhere to be seen...

"They know yet? I doubt that you go there every day for the coffee, you hope to hear something of them, but you can't, can you? Without alerting both of the factions. It seems that we have to remain under the radar, we are not as strong as we were, since that day, since he left us..."

Riyaki looked to his left, his best friend and closest ally, Yui Junkai. He was someone that had stuck by him, throughout a lot of the crazy things they had been through and none were worse than the event Five years ago, the end of their reign over the 24th Ward, which led to many of their allies being dead or going underground. Many of the CCG Officers had gained an Associate or Special Class Investigator Rank, it was the greatest Assignment/Mission that the CCG had ever undertaken.

"He didn't leave Yui, he was killed, he was butchered and we ran. We were the cowards that day, I remember all of them, I remember how they fought for us. We were the Empire that they craved for and needed, but our vision? It was a dream and that dream had clouded us. We were betrayed and you will find who it is my friend because I am too weak, I can't fight anymore..."

Yui nodded, before walking ahead, he looked to Riyaki one last time before smirking.

"You know, she is looking for us, right? Well, how about we liven things up? How about you go pay a visit to that Bookstore and see if she shows? We need intel and the best way to get it is with you. After all, you are her desire...Shin"

C.C.G 20th Ward Office

"I will fight for you all, I will bring her down, on that, my friends, you have a promise, for I will deliver her to you if it is the last thing I do..."

Sitting down in his office was a black haired man with dull grey eyes, he was looking down at a photo of his old squad, the best Recruitment Squad that had ever graced the C.C.G. When the Recruitment Squad of Misaki, Goren, Rai, and Tari was disbanded, it had sent shockwaves throughout the CCG, many believed that they would grace the Arima Squad, but no.

Three of the Four would die, leaving only one as the remaining holder of the greatest recruitment legacy that had been left, this person was the son of Diadora and Mei Serachi, Misaki. He was a man possessed, wanting to find the killer responsible and yet, he remembered who it was. The One-Eyed Owl, the deadliest ghoul since the SSS+ Reaper.

"This is my goal, that is my mission, for all the pain and grievance that IT has caused, the Owl will die, the Owl will suffer, and the Owl will die by my hand..."

Misaki spoke in such a deadly tone that one would think he was a ghoul himself, only he knew his abilities and what he could do. He picked up his Quinque Case and walked to his Squad Room before he could even reach there, his name was called by none other than his Squad Leader.

"Serachi! We are being called into Active Duty, gear up, we got some dirty-blooded bastard ghouls to handle..."

Misaki turned his head, allowing his stoic face to crack as he smirked.

"Yes, Mado, I will be ready soon enough..."
