Natsu held his bleeding chest, just able to crack a smile with the tears in his eyes, "Well," he started, choking on his own words. "I guess... this is it!" He laughed with tears in his eyes. Staring at her, he couldn't believe it was going to be over. It was going to be the end. "Natsu, you idiot !" Lucy shouted, tears streaming down her cheeks as her eyes locked onto his bloody chest. "You didn't give me a chance to tell you..."
Natsu's eyes widened a little, his vision just barely blurring. "I... I did find a way out of this..." Lucy's head hung down as she walked over to him. Natsu couldn't believe it, there was a way to end it all, it would all be over... Lucy leaned down, giving Natsu a kiss. Natsu didn't understand.
Why did she give him a kiss? Everything was going to be fine, right ?
"L-Luce, what-" Lucy slowly took a few steps back, tears streaming down her face as she smiled for Natsu one last time. "The only way you can live is..." she grabbed one of her keys, opening a portal. She didn't even call a spirit. Natsu stared at the key without a name or even a fancy design, "Lucy, what are you-" he began to worry, the pain in his chest disappearing. "…Is to get a celestial gatekeeper to sacrifice themselves for you..." she smiled at Natsu, the portal from the key opening. "And- and look ! Here I am, as your friend..." Natsu tried to get up from his position to stop her, but it felt like a thousand daggers were stabbing his insides one by one. "LUCY, DON'T !" he shouted.
"I know, it sounds impossible to some, but... others call it luck," she laughed with tears in her eyes. "This.. key I'm holding is specially made for the book of E.N.D. It took... a while to find, but talking to the right people, I was able to get it pretty quickly," she said as she opened the gate. It was all in slow motion, Natsu's hand reached out to Lucy, wishing he could do something. Anything! Except lay there and do nothing. "LUCY, P-PLEASE," he cried out, "I DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOU... not... not again..." he choked out. Lucy's head turned with a look of sadness towards Natsu, but the portal was sucking her in. "I love you ..." she quickly said before she was pulled into the portal along with the key.
The portal closed without a sound, and instead simply vanished out of thin air. Natsu's wound was healed. It... worked, but there was something wrong. He couldn't remember who opened the gate to save him.
Lucy Heartfilia was pulled out of ever existing.
