Nick & Lilly
a. One Dimensional
Truth be told, Lilly Truscott was intimidated by Nick Jonas.
He had these piercing brown eyes that seemed to penetrate the depths of your thoughts every time he fixed his gaze on you. He gave firm handshakes that meant business. Whenever he played the drums, his facial expression was nothing short of aggressive or ferocious. On the flipside, the gentle and respectful manner in which he handled his guitar was comparable to the way a mother would handle her newborn.
Which was why she found out it so uncanny that she was now sitting next to him, on the grand piano, their fingers dancing along to the black and ivory keys together, playing a duet version of the most random song, "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer.
Initially, she received a rude shock when he conveniently slid into the piano stool next to her. In a low, husky voice he had quietly instructed her to continue playing whatever she was playing as he contributed an accompanying melody. Lilly was too speechless to do anything else as she let her numb fingers do the talking.
"Kiss me... out on the bearded barley," Nick whispered softly as he tinkered with the keys. Lilly let an irrepressible smile cross her lips as he continued humming, the tenderness in his voice reverberated in synchrony with the music.
They sat elbow-to-elbow, knee-to-knee, shoulder-to-shoulder on the tiny piano stool.
"You wear those shoes, and I will wear that dress," Nick sang huskily and Lilly couldn't help but uncontrollably laugh.
"I will live to see that day, I'll hold you to that," she locked his pinkie with hers—a sacred promise.
She looked up to meet Nick's penetrating, wait, twinkling dusky eyes as he chuckled. His fingers left the piano, and he turned slowly towards her.
"So kiss me," he finished, his lips upturned to form a boyish, lopsided grin—with teeth.
That was when she realized that Nick Jonas was less intimidating that she thought he was.
Random piano-playing turned to epic Guitar Hero III battles which turned to breakfast dates and 3AM songwriting processes.
It was simple. It was obvious. They were falling in love.
Well, at least Lilly Truscott was.
AN: Do tell, please? :)
