Alone
Characters: Gabriel/Elle
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Summary: A little scene that I think would have been perfect on the show. What I think should have happened when Elle see Gabriel get killed and then comes back to life.
Author's notes: Spoilers for episode 3.11. Fluffy one-shot.
Elle had never known pain like this in her life. Not even when her power was out of control and kept shocking her, had she felt this much agony. Slowly and quietly she opened the gates to the elevator and made her way over to the figure on the ground. Kneeling down beside him she placed her hand on his face. His skin was still warm but she knew that Gabriel was not breathing.
As the tears flowed down her cheeks, Elle remembered the amazing moments she and Gabriel had experienced together over the past couple of days. She thought about the first kiss, so gentle and passionate, and also of the first time they had made love on the floor of the Canfield house. She remembered how he had taken away the pain that day in the cell at Pinehearst, and how a few minutes ago he had saved her life again by pushing her into the elevator to protect her from HRG. Elle became more upset and she began to sob. He had protected and saved her and she couldn't even do the same for him.
Elle lay down beside Gabriel and placed herself in his arms, tears still flowing down her cheeks. She had lost the man she loved. He was everything to her and now he was dead. Elle knew that she should probably move in case HRG came back to make sure he had finished the job but at this stage she didn't care. She had nothing left and she didn't care if he came back to kill her too. Exhausted she placed her head on Gabriel's chest and fell into an uneasy sleep.
Elle woke some time later her eyes swollen and red from crying. The tears threatened to fall again when she remembered what had happened earlier. She closed her eyes tightly trying to banish the memory of the man she loved getting his throat cut right in front of her. A small sob escaped her lips as she slowly opened her eyes but kept her head on Gabriel's chest.
Elle was about to fall asleep again when she felt movement beside her. It was only then that she noticed the rise and fall of Gabriel's chest. He was breathing. She raised her head and looked up at his face. What she saw nearly made her heart stop. Gabriel's eyes were opening and he was looking back at her, tears in his eyes but a small smile on his face.
Suddenly Elle couldn't hold back the tears any longer. Slowly Gabriel took her in his arms rubbing her back as her sobs became louder and louder. He held her tight kissing the top of her head until she began to calm down. Gabriel kept his arms around her until her sobs subsided then slowly he turned her face up to meet his looking into her beautiful blue eyes.
"It's going to be alright now, Elle", he whispered softly, "I'm right here".
"I was so scared", she replied in a soft voice.
"I know", he said "but I'm alive now and I will never let anyone hurt you".
Elle couldn't help but smile a little. She was so sure now that everything was going to be alright. She had Gabriel back and she knew he would protect her no matter what happened. Elle reached up to pull him into a kiss. They kissed each other slowly and gently, forgetting about everyone else or the need for revenge. They had each other and that was all they ever needed.
