"Hi honey, how was your day? Long I'm guessing?" Jackie asked as Nick walked through the door after pulling another double.
"Well it was long but at least we solved our case." Nick said with a smile as he began taking off his shoes.
He noticed that the house was silent, meaning the kids had already hit the hay for the night.
Jackie was on the couch reading a book.
"Jacks what the hell are you doing?" Nick asked wide eyed as Jackie took a big drink of wine.
"Relax Nicky, it's just apple juice, there weren't any clean cups and I was too lazy and tired to wash them right now so it was either drink out of a wine glass or a sippy cup." She said with a smile.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything, it's just that I was shocked to see you doing that."
"Yes you should have said something, I may forget or something, you never know."
Nick walked over and plopped down on the couch next to her and yawned. He softly laid his hand on her growing tummy. Jackie had just recently started showing and they both were excited about that.
"Brrr, your hands are freezing." She told him.
"Sorry." He said with a chuckle as he removed his hand.
"Honey are you sure you don't want wait to find out if it's a boy or girl until the big day?" Nick asked.
"I'm sure." She said adamantly.
"Please?" He said. "I'll think about it, but I'm not making any promises, besides, we still have a while before we can find out anyways." She reminded him.
"I know, but thank you for thinking about it at least." He told her.
"You're welcome." He smiled at her.
"I'm completely exhausted, I'm going to bed are you coming?" He asked her.
"Yeah in just a bit, I want to finish the chapter that I'm on." She responded.
"Ok, goodnight." He told her as he leaned over and gave her a kiss.
"Goodnight Nicky." She said.
She watched him get up and disappear up the stairs before laying a hand on her stomach.
"Your daddy is plumb crazy if he thinks I'm waiting to find out what you are until you're born." She said softly with a smile before turning her attention back to her book.
