A/N: I had the sudden urge to write something, and this is what came out. You'd be surprised how difficult it actually is to keep a fic at exactly 100 words!
Instinct
Shawn was always telling him to "follow your instincts" and "take risks". But as a detective, Carlton found that it is often wiser to trust your head over your gut.
As far as Carlton was concerned, Shawn had taken too many risks, his instinct was flawed. And Carlton took every opportunity to remind him of the fact. Shawn would simply grin, flitting away like the deranged social butterfly he was, leaving Carlton's mind racing with unanswered questions.
It wasn't until much later that Carlton finally realized that Shawn hadn't been talking about trusting your head or gut, but rather your heart.
