"Mirror, mirror, who's the fairest of them all?" Cho Chang whispered as she paused in front of the mirror. She was, wasn't she? Cho was a Ravenclaw, and therefore too smart to believe platitudes about looks being unimportant. Without her beauty, she'd be just another brainy Ravenclaw. With her beauty, she was the princess of Hogwarts. Hadn't Cedric Diggory, the pure, perfect prince of Hogwarts, chosen her to be his princess? Hadn't Harry Potter, the Boy-Who-Lived himself, fallen in love with her?

Fleur Delacour was part veela, and that wasn't enough to make Cedric choose her over Cho. Cho considered her rivals at Hogwarts. Angelina Johnson, a Gryffindor in the year above Cho's, was beautiful, vivacious, and fiery. But Cho always thought she possessed a superior, more feminine beauty than Angelina, despite the fact that Lee Jordan didn't sing odes to her while he commented on her Quidditch games. The Patil twins, she grudingly admitted, were nearly as beautiful as she was. But Parvati was an empty headed little girl, and Padma just didn't shine – she didn't even care about being the light in a crowd.

Cho frowned as she thought about her biggest rival. She forced her face to smooth, not wanting to ease the path of wrinkles. Hermione Granger. She wasn't aware of the girl as a potential rival until she saw her on Viktor Krum's arm at the Yule Ball. The girl was stunningly beautiful when she cared enough to tame her bushy hair and dress reasonably fashionably. She was brilliant too, top of her class at nearly every subject. Plus she was Harry's faithful lieutenant. Thank the Goddess that Hermione hadn't realized beauty could be an asset.

Cho's place was secure at Hogwarts for now. Almost. Every princess needed a prince. Roger Davies was leaving soon, so there was no point in accepting his offers. Michael Corner was a nice distraction, but he was not princely material. Draco Malfoy was every inch the prince, but with his father's arrest as a Death Eater, Cho expected his stock to fall. No, Harry Potter was the one true prince at Hogwarts. She'd give him the summer to get over Marietta's betrayal, get over his moodiness; then she'd seek him out. Next year, Harry would be hers once more.
