Zach and Jonas may disagree with me, but I think Bex is the most beautiful Gallagher girl ever, including Macey McHenry, who really could be a model. Probably the most beautiful girl in the world, ever. Of course, she would probably never believe me if I told her that.
I closed the door of my apartment, locked it, and headed downstairs, outside, and to my car. I drove for a while, then turned left, stopping in front of a big apartment building. I walked through the front door, and headed for the elevator. Going up two floors, I walked down the hall until I found the number I was looking for. I hesitated, fingering the little black box in my pocket before knocking. The door opened, and there stood Bex. She looked amazing, as always.
She gestured for me to come in, and then closed the door. We walked past the kitchen into the living room. She sat on the couch. Instead of sitting next to her, I remained standing. She looked at me funny.
"Grant, you do know you can sit down don't you?" She asked playfully, grinning. I smiled slightly, suddenly nervous. We had been dating ever since we graduated (3 years, just in case you wanted to know), but I was suddenly scared. What if she said no?
You have to do this Grant, I told myself. Before you lose your nerve. I cleared my throat.
"Bex, I've loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you when we arrived at Gallagher." She was looking more and more confused. I got down on one knee, and looked up at her. "So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, I, uh," Looking up at her beautiful face gave me the courage to keep going. I pulled the little black box out of my pocket and opened it, revealing a simple gold band with a single diamond. I knew she wouldn't want anything to fancy. "Rebecca Baxter," I said, smiling. "Will you marry me?"
At first she looked shocked. "Oh Grant," she said breathlessly. I began to get nervous again. Then a smile began to play at the corners of her mouth. She grinned again. "I'd be delighted," she said, and I slipped the ring onto her hand. I pulled her to her feet. Tucking a strand of her gorgeous dark hair behind her ear, I kissed her. She slid her arms around my neck, and I put one on her back, the other in her hair. We pulled apart, and I smiled at her. She smiled back.
This is perfect, I thought. Absolutely perfect.
