A shriek filled the air, bouncing off of the bus windows and forcing Emma's eyes to pop open. She jerked quickly, ready to take cover, and felt a hand squeeze her shoulder.
"Whoa there, are you okay?"
Emma blinked rapidly as Will's face came into focus a few inches from hers. Slowly, she took everything in. Her head was on his shoulders, and his arm was around her, and his face was so close to hers that all she had to do was tilt her head up to kiss –
"What happened?" she asked.
"Rachel just found out that Quinn and Finn have never seen Rent."
"Oh," said Emma, nodding and trying to straighten up so that she was sitting in her own seat. "I can see how that would upset her."
"You can go back to sleep," suggested Will, smiling down on Emma. "This gives her an excuse to sing all of 'Out Tonight,' so she'll be busy for a while."
Emma tried to hide her smile as she tucked her head back into the crook of Will's shoulder, where it fit perfectly, and waited for the guilt to settle into the pit of her stomach. But as they passed through Cincinnati, and Lexington, and Louisville, it stayed away, and all she felt was the warmth of love.
