You are the loop.

Several hours after he had reported the discovery of the deep space sensors to Dr. Weir, Radek still couldn't stop obsessing about their conversation. It was a ridiculous thing to say, really.

You are the loop.

What had he been thinking?

The problem was, he knew precisely what he'd been thinking. It was what he was always thinking around Elizabeth... Dr. Weir. It was foolish, and he was entirely aware of it, but he couldn't help himself.

Radek was fully aware that he was not the most attractive of men. He was on the smallish side, he lacked the striking features of men like Major Sheppard, and he tended to be far too distracted to spend any time on his personal appearance. In the past, he had always relied on his intellect, his humor, and his boyish charm to secure romantic relationships.

But he'd had no business using his boyish charm on Dr. Weir. She was the head of the expedition, and he knew that there were myriad reasons that would prevent her from entering into a relationship with him or any other member of the expedition.

It had been almost instinctual to punctuate his casual remark with a shy smile, and it had been a horrifying moment a second later when he realized just what he was doing and with whom.

After a moment's hesitation, Dr. Weir, consummate diplomat that she was, had given him the option of a tactical retreat.

Radek groaned at the thought that this gentle act had only increased his infatuation with her.

It was with a sigh that he returned to his work.

Of course Radek, consummate scientist that he was, forgot the entire matter the moment he discovered the Wraith dart on its way to the city.
