Wake Up Daddy

"Daddy wake up!" Claire Jackson shouted shaking her father as he lay sleeping in his bed.
Daniel let out a groan and opened his eyes slightly. "What?" he mumbled.
"Is today the day?" she asked.
He let out another groan, she had asked the same question everyday ever since he had told her about the invitation to Sam and Jack's party. "What day is it?" he asked shutting his eyes.
"It's the 25th," she replied almost instantly.
He thought a moment trying to remember through a half asleep brain. "Yes today is the day," he finally answered as it came to him.
"Really?!" she squealed with excitement. "It's time to get up, we're going to be late," she grabbed his wrist in two small hands and pulled, "get up Daddy we're going to be late!"
"Alright, alright! I'm up." He sat up in bed still half asleep. "What time is it?"
"It's late!" she protested climbing under the blankets and making an attempt to push her father's legs out of bed.
He pulled his legs out and hung them over the side, glancing at the clock as he did. "It not even dawn yet," he moan as he saw the time.
"I know, and we're already late!" She jumped across the bed and onto the floor, hurrying over to a pile of clothes she wrapped her small arms around them and carried them over to her father. Dumping the bundle in front of him she headed for the dresser to retrieve a comb, coming back she climbed back onto the bed and started to brush his hair. "You got to get dressed so you can eat your breakfast," she said pulling hard on a knot.
"Ow!" Daniel reached back and grabbed to the comb from his daughter's hands. "How about I get myself ready while you get yourself ready," he suggested.
"But I'm already ready," she answered.
He looked her up and down, she was wearing one of her prettier dress and her hair was pulled back in what looked like an attempt of a ponytail. "Of course you are," he murmured, before falling back on the bed. "Wake me when the sun gets up," he mumbled closing his eyes.
"BUT DADDY!"

I named Daniel's daughter Claire, after his mother because I didn't know what else to call her.
And Claire's mother can be who ever you wish it to be, because I' m not sure on that fact too.
This short piece was for a non-fan fiction story, but I don't think I will be using it in that story anymore so I decided to converted it into a short fanfic.
