The Little Mermaid, Ursula/Ariel; No one would approve. No one.

Ariel thinks no one would approve with what she is about to do. Now, with the pen in her hand and the dream just about to be fulfilled (the hope subdues the doubt that builds under the sea witches gaze), and she ignores the price because, really, how could it not? Come true.

But, for a moment, she thinks: No one would approve.

Daddy wouldn't. He would be hurt and angry--the world would suffer, buried deep down like Atlantis.

Mommy--sweet, sweet, a memory-in-time, Mama--wouldn't approve. Ariel thinks she would cry for her, tell her to stay, that it just isn't worth--Oh? So love isn't worth a thing?--the price.

The Prince--she thinks his name was Eric--that holds her heart wouldn't, even when he doesn't know her. She thinks he'll look at her like some sea monster burrowed deep in the skin--the sand at the bottom--of the--ocean--earth. Ariel thinks this is worth it, her voice and her life here--forever lost--for him and that he'll--they'll--find a way to love one another even with her not-fully-thought-out plan of hers.

She thinks--

(It is worth it.)

Ursula's hands are cold. (She breaths: Angel-fish.) Her fingers dig into the skin of her shoulders, leaving goosebumps as she dances a path down her arm and snatches the paper. Signed and in her hands--Ariel thinks she'll regret this. The deal, all made and happening. She's handed her soul; now, her voice.

Soon, the tentacle bruises on her fin, will turn to pretty-ugly red-blue-black-purple prints--marks--running down her new legs. Soon, she'll forget this and live. Happily Ever After.

For the mere second before Ariel chocks on what-was-her-air, Ariel thinks she doesn't like Ursula's smile.

Author's Note:

I honestly don't know what to say, except: Um. I finished playing Kingdom Heart/II and, um, well..What can I say? The subtext, honestly, got to me; I'm playing on both canons really. I see the seen more leaning toward Kingdom though as. But that's just me, as this is more gen than anything.

...

I'll go burn in my little corner of hell now.
