PROLOGUE
Driving through the rural areas of Ithica, New York is the Descoteaux family, consisting of Sam, Lisa, Rose, and Alex. Rose and Alex are the Indian-French kids of Sam and Lisa, Sam being 50% Indian and 50% French. Lisa is the French mother of both. The kids are supposedly sleeping in the back seat, but Alex is wide awake, staring out the window. His parents don't know that.
"Sam, we have to tell him some time." Lisa whispers to Sam from the passenger seat. Sam shifts uncomfortably.
"Lisa, we will tell him LATER. He won't be able to handle this right now. I don't want to ruin his good mood." It looks like Sam had been avoiding this confrontation for a while now, and it doesn't look like he wants to continue the conversation.
"Sam. He can't live a lie his whole life. You have to tell him that I'm not his real mother someday."
Alex's eyes widen and the gears in his mind start to whir. He starts to purposefully eavesdrop on the conversation his parents are having. Or his one parent and one step-mom, as he's now assumed. He's got a tug in his gut, like something terrible is about to happen. He ignores it.
Sam faces Lisa with an exasperated expression on his face.
"Lisa, don't just say that! Again, I'll tell him later. Just give him…" He trails off as he sees something in the middle of the road. A bull? A man? He's too involved in figuring out what it is, before he realizes that it's neither a bull or a man. It's half both. But it's too late.
"DAD WATCH OUT!" Alex shouts, as a giant force slams into the front of the car, sending everyone flying. Sam and Lisa crash through the front window despite their seat belts being buckled. Rose's now awake form flies through the trunk window as Alex's seat belt is the only one holding him in place as the car tumbles down the road.
The giant Bull-Man marches down to the three figures laying on the remote road, all three desperately moving away from the "hooded figure" that they're seeing. Rose's eyes widen as she sees it for what it truly is. A half-bull half-man, trudging down with a mad glint in its eyes. Rose has never seen these eyes before. Hungry eyes, ready to kill.
*Bloody and gory parts start here*
Alex manages to pop himself out of his jammed seat belt, and wriggles his head out of the window, only to see a Bull-Man pick up his "mother" and rip her in half. He watches in horror as the Bull-Man shove both halves into his mouth, before approaching his sister. The 14-year-old boy tries to cry out to his sister, tries to distract the creature from reaching her, but his throat is blocked. He can't seem to get the words out of his mouth. The monster picks up his sister, squeezing her, making her scream, until she stops. Until she stops breathing. She's gone. His beloved sister, who has cared for him and who has helped him through anything, is gone. He tries to turn his head, he doesn't want to watch this creature throw her down too, but his body refuses. Watching in consternation as his sister gets thrown down into the mouth, before the giant finally reaches his father.
"ALEX! RUN! RUN ALEX, RUN!"
Those are the last words Alex heard from his family before running for his life.
"Milady, permission to kill?" A black-haired teenage girl stands in the woods near the Minotaur, aiming a bow right at the monster's eye.
"Permission granted." A girl of about 12 years of age responds to the taller girl with the nocked arrow. The arrow flies right on target, and more girls in silver parkas run onto the lane, shooting arrows and swiping knives at the legs of Pasiphae's son. The girls are expert hunters, and the group of immortals easily take down the creature. The two watch the monster turn into dust from afar, but do not expect three figures to fall from where the creature's stomach once was. They run over, but slow down to a slow walk as they see a torn up, ripped up, bloody family, all dead, in the dusty remains of the Minotaur. One girl, one woman, one man, but no boy.
The first chapter of my very first fanfiction done! Sorry about the bloody parts. Also, A/N: The hunters weren't expecting a boy to be in the remains of the minotaur, it's just the narrator saying it. Thanks for reading and review!
