Justice for the Soul
Chapter 1
A New Enemy
The Justice League, a group of seven individuals who have saved the earth quite a few number of times, these seven individuals are Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Flash, each of these seven are among the greatest the world had to offer. Batman was known as being the brains of the group, often knowing more then the others and having deductive skills that put most others to shame, he hailed from Gotham and was only a part timer, not wishing to spare too much of his time away from his city when it might need him. Wonder Woman was the (former) princess of the amazons, she's known as the princess of the group, a warrior princess that can give back a bashing twice as hard as she can take, strong willed and had skills that would put Batman to shame in close range fighting if they ever fought. Superman was the boy scout and moral compass of the league, he had a very naïve way of viewing the world and saw the best in the human race, of course, this goes without saying that this brought up conflict when Batman gave his opposition to what Superman was saying at times. Martian Manhunter was the loner of the group, not as bad as Batman, but close to it, he was the last of his race, Superman had his cousin that could relate to him, but Martian Manhunter was truly the last of his race here on Earth, so he often was seen alone until one of the others interact with him. Hawkgirl was another alien, she was from the planet of Thanagar, she wasn't the last of her people by any means, she was just a long way away from them, she is strong willed with a temper that she often has trouble controlling, her heart is good though, often puts others before herself. Green Lantern is a powerhouse, he has a ring that can make anything he wants, his personality is no nonsense and militant, he does know how to cut loose and have fun, but is often seen as gruff and military trained, marine training can do that to a person. Flash is the child of the group and being the youngest among them doesn't help with that, nor does his childish antics and sense of humor that would only be entertaining to a child, but his speed is very impressive and every now and then he makes a good joke or is the joke while everyone else laughs.
Now though, 'note to self, never let the Flash work with you when building a teleportation system, keep him on the ground and ready to teleport to you when ready, and even then, only bring him up when everything else is done, never before,' the other six thought at the same time, all six. Why were they thinking this, they were all working on a teleportation system to use instead of their standard shuttle that let's them get to and from the Earth, this would make it easier to get to an emergency and respond accordingly, but that was shot out of the sky thanks to the Flash. They had just finished building and installing the system when they decided to do a test run, so they were going to have Green Lantern, go to the Earth's surface and wait until he was teleported up, that was before Flash, who was eating at the time, did something. That something was to take a bite out of a hotdog with heavy mustard, chili, onions, and relish, this bite squirted some mixed gunk out of the back end and onto the main mechanism, there was a buzzing noise, electricity flying everywhere, and the last thing they all saw was the infamous bat-glare directed towards Flash. After that was a white light of fury that had everyone spinning around in space before being spit out in a huge pile with a loud thud, Flash was on the bottom, then came down Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Wonder Woman, and finally Batman landing on top.
Flash was being crushed from the force of everyone on top of him, "guys, can you please get off, I can't breathe," he struggled to say, the others quickly got off, all except Hawkgirl, she walked over to him and began shaking him furiously.
"I should do more then just land on top of you, I'm going to rip you to shreds," Hawkgirl threatened while beginning to shake him even more than before and was about to hit him when a hand caught her fist, and a voice broke through the forest she was just now noticing they were in.
"We don't have time nor the manpower to spare, we need to find out where we are, Flash, do a recon and find out what you can," Green Lantern ordered and they all waited until Hawkgirl finally let go of Flash before he made a run for it and came back a second later with a smiling face.
"Good news, we're just in Japan, so all we have to do is let GL use his ring to get us to the watchtower," Flash said with a shrug and a no big deal tone that said the obvious solution was obvious, oh how wrong he was, because Superman was about to inform them of something else.
"I don't think so, I'm looking out into space and by this time of day, the watchtower should be directly over us, but all I'm seeing is space, I don't think we're on the right world, could be another Earth like with the Justice Lords," Superman theorized to everyone as he looked at them.
"Then we lay low for the moment, we don't need a possible counterpart of ours finding us," Wonder Woman was about to say something else when the sound of a fight reached their ears, Superman must have been so distracted by the others talking that he missed it.
Everyone left to check it out, except for Batman who was locked in thought at something, Martian Manhunter sensed this and spoke once everyone was gone, "what is troubling you, you seem to be lost in thought about something," he noted with a hand on Batman's shoulder and broke his thoughts.
"Nothing," Batman grunted out before running to where the others were headed to, the Martian quickly catching up with his flight, when they got there, they found an orange haired boy going against a very large being with a hole in his chest, sword at his hip, and a jaw bone showing. The orange haired boy was winning until something was spoken by a pale man dressed in white with a hole in his lower neck that the others were to far away to hear, and Superman wasn't listening in to hear what the pale man said, and after that is when something strange happened. The orange haired boy had been winning, even chopping an arm off of the giant, but then, after whatever was said by the pale man, the boy stopped moving altogether, thus letting the larger being start a beating, an orange haired girl, maybe a sister or something, was going to interfere.
The giant turned his attention from the orange haired boy and was about to strike at her when Superman acted, he flew as fast as he could and brought out his fist to strike at the giant, right when he hit, Superman expected one thing, to knock the giant back a considerable amount. What happened was far more troubling to the league, the giant of a man was completely unaffected by the punch, beyond unaffected, the only thing that punch did was stop the attack on the girl and make the giant face the flying man that still had his fist on the giant's cheek. Then the giant boomed out, "what do you think you're doing, trying to give me a little love tap, what a worthless punch, worthless human," the giant yelled before sending his one good arm, that being the left, towards the kryptonian's face and sending him crashing to the ground. The rest of the league, other then Batman who was analyzing the situation more closely, charged towards the giant, "more bugs that want to get squashed huh, fine by me," the first one to get to the giant was Flash of course, with his speed he was able to run circles around the giant. Flash aimed for the legs by using his speed to hit the giants legs, as one could imagine, this did nothing but annoy the giant, so what it did was bring out his left foot and trip the speedster and make him bounce a couple of times before landing beside a larger then average black haired boy with a strange arm. "You're going to have to do better then that human," the giant boomed again before Green Lantern put a bubble construct around the giant to try and contain it, as you can imagine, this just angered the giant and made him use his superior strength to shatter the bubble with a heavy punch.
Hawkgirl chose that moment to come in with an electrified mace, thinking this creature was magically charged, imagine her surprise when the giant grabbed her mace with his bare hands, "what are you," she asked before she was slammed to the ground by the giant.
"You puny humans don't know, we're Arrancars, souls that have gained power far beyond that of you pathetic wimps, now die," the giant was about to slam his foot down on her head when Martian Manhunter came in and tried to strike at the thing, but his punches did as good as Superman's. The giant just stood there and took it until he had enough and slammed his fist into the Martian's gut before slamming his fist onto the back of his hunched over form, and that is when Wonder Woman chose that time to interfere and kick the giant in the gut, this did very little again. "You humans just don't get it, you're outmatched," the giant then backhanded the princess and caused her to spin away before coming to a skidding stop just past Batman, the giant looked at the dark knight and was about to charge for him when said man acted by running for the giant himself.
Batman ran until he saw that the giant was about to do a punch with a cocked back fist directed for him, the caped crusader ducked under the blow with a baseball slide before righting himself quickly and landing a roundhouse kick aimed for the giant's face, doing something surprising. The surprising part is when the kick, that should have at least broken the leg of such an ordinary man on a being that stood up to Superman's punch, slammed into the jaw of the giant and sent said giant turning around from the force before spitting out what could only be described as blood. "Did Bats just do damage to a guy that Superman couldn't even scratch," Flash asked to anybody that heard him, this was like a nightmare where the only thing that could stop the big bad guys was a dude dressed like a bat that was ten times scarier right now.
"That's what it looked like, but how did Batman do it, he never shown that he's had powers in the past, has he," Wonder Woman asked as they saw the giant try and backhand Batman, only for him to block it with one hand while he delivered a fist to the nose of said giant.
"No, he's never had any power, never even shown any potential for any, nor any interest in having any, and he could easily buy a serum to give him a power if he wanted," Superman pointed out, he knew that alone wouldn't give away Batman's identity, so he didn't have to worry there.
"Maybe these guys are being that only a human with no enhancements can take on," Flash guessed as they witnessed the giant panting hard from chasing Batman all over the place to take the bat down, only to be met with various ways to counter and attack before being caught.
"I don't think so, but something has got to be up for him to be able to take on that thing and come out on top," Green Lantern stated as he watched while hovering overhead, the giant was losing breath fast now and looked to be ready to pass out, the only one left was the pale one after.
"My concern lies not with how Batman is able to do this, but what will happen when the pale one decides to step in," Martian Manhunter asked as he stared the pale one down, he seemed to be just standing there as if assessing the situation the same way Batman would.
"I don't like that man, and not just because he's not helping his comrade, his presence is not the best, he reminds me of the pit of Tartarus, if the pit was nothing but sadness and hopelessness," Wonder Woman pointed out to everyone, they couldn't agree more to her guess.
"His friend just screams rage and anger, I can feel it from here, it's also blinding him in some aspects, makes him sloppy, but it also seems to add power to his hits," Green Lantern commented, but the giant got knocked out when Batman delivered the final uppercut to his face.
Then, for the first time since getting here, the pale one spoke, "intriguing, you managed to beat Yammy in hand to hand combat, doing so while using nothing but spiritual pressure applied to your body, my name is Ulquiorra Cifer, what is your name human," his voice was void of emotion.
"Batman," Batman grunted out while narrowing his eyes a little in a glaring fashion, that glare had never been so intense to the league now that they knew Batman had powers, though, they're still unsure as to what the powers were, Ulquiorra seemed to know, but the league didn't.
"That is a strange name," Ulquiorra commented, he knew it wasn't his real name, but why should he care what this Batman calls himself, "I will be taking that oaf there with me and we are leaving," when he stepped forward, the rest of the league stood in the way of beside of Batman.
"That's not going to happen, he's going to face justice for his crimes, starting with all these people that he's killed," Superman stated, this might not be his world, but he's still going to make sure justice is done in honor of those that can't do that for themselves.
"You people aren't from around here, are you," a voice called over to them, both sides turned to see a man with a cane, clogs, a bowl hat, and a dark coat that sports a white diamond pattern along the bottom with a dark green shirt and pants underneath, he was walking over to them. He was with a purple haired woman, she had gold eyes and was dressed in an orange over-shirt with two white straps on each shoulder, a large beige sash around her waist and black stretch pants with a pair of lightweight brown shoes, her eyes held mischief, despite having a blank face. "You don't have to answer my question, but let me give you some advice," the woman spoke as the two were walking towards the justice league, the man split off when they reached them and took a sword out of his cane, headed for the giant, "this is a war, and in war you kill the enemy." That is when the man plunged his sword into the chest of the giant with little effort, the giant seemed to evaporate, leaving nothing but the bodies of those he killed as proof that he was ever here to begin with, the two didn't even care that they just killed someone.
"I don't know who you are but killing is never the answer, you do that and you're no better than that which you just killed," Superman yelled at them, as if not hearing the part about them being in a war, he probably did and didn't care, his moral code forbade him from killing.
"Technically, he was already dead, just a corrupted soul that has gained too much power, and you barely have enough power to see them, more than likely, the only reason you can is due to their high spiritual pressure, but back to the matter at hand," the man informed before turning to Ulquiorra.
Ulquiorra took note of the situation, the tenth espada was dead, Ulquiorra was alone, but his mission was complete, he judged the substitute soul reaper and deemed him trash not a threat to Aizen, the orange haired woman and this Batman were intriguing though, so he decided to leave. He turned to open a garganta and leave the trash and few possible threats or forced allies, "are you running away already," the woman called out to him, it was obvious she was trying to goad her into a fight, how pathetic, is that the best she could do.
"Why, are you trying to goad me into a fight, you know what would happen if you tried to fight me while protecting those pieces of trash, even you must realize the odds are stacked against you, normally I'd be happy to oblige, but my mission is complete here. It's time we deliver our report to lord Aizen, I'll tell him the soul reaper he's interested in has no value whatsoever, he's not even worth killing," Ulquiorra said as the garganta engulfed his form and left six heroes and one soul reaper scowling at being called trash, or not worth killing.
"Yoruichi, could you take Ichigo, Chad, and Orihime to the shop and have them patched up, I'm going to talk to our new friends here on what they just seen," the man requested as he brought out a fan and hid his face from the league's view, and put his sword back in his cane.
A/N: I have already decided on pairings, Bleach pairings: Ulquiorra/Orihime, Kisuke/Yoruichi, Ichigo/Rukia, Grimmjow/Nel, and Toshiro/Karin. Justice League pairings: Green Lantern/Hawkgirl, and Superman/Lois(no she will not be in the story but will get mentioned from time to time). Crossover pairings: Batman/Sui-Feng, Wonder Woman/Shuhei Hisagi, and Martian Manhunter/Retsu Unohana. The Ulquiorra/Orihime is something I will never budge on, even if I have to make a bullshit reason for them to be together, I will, even if I have to have them step over God's corps to do be together, I will make it happen. I am a shipper of the wonderbat from the justice league cartoon that you must know by now that I've taken this incarnation from, but I decided to break that ship up for this fanfiction, but you will find out why I chose the pairings I did in due time. This is not a romance story, may have a few chapters mainly about the romance, but this is not a romance story, so if you were hoping for it to be, tough luck.
