Graduation

After a long day at work, Sam drove home exhausted. That was the longest twelve hours of my life! I just wanna sleep for a week! She thought. While pulling in to the drive way she noticed that Austin wasn't home yet. Wonder if he is still with his Dad. Her thoughts continued. She closed her car door and walked inside and right as she entered the living room she dropped her purse and kicked her shoes off then crashed on the couch. Time to be a lazy bum the rest of the day! Sam smiled. Roughly an hour passed, when she decided to turn on the television to watch her favorite program, "Friends." But before she was able to find the correct channel Sam spotted a stack of old photos on the coffee table. What are these doing here? Was Austin looking at these? Her curiosity took over and grabbed the photos and flipped through them one at a time. The first few were pictures of Her and Carter at high school graduation exchanging hugs, making funny faces, and holding up their diplomas. Sam cracked a smile and giggled once she saw Carter's goofy facial expression as she gave him a friendly kiss on the cheek in one the pictures. She skimmed through a couple more, then came across one of her and Austin holding each other close. Once again she smiled with joy and had an immediately flash back to when that picture was taken. I remember this like it was yesterday. Wow! We were so young. The longer she stared at it, the more emotional she became. A tear trickled from each of her eyes as her smile got bigger. Wiping the tears from her face she moved on to another polaroid of her and her husband. This time Sam and Austin were kissing. Sam again became overwhelmed with delight and broke down crying. This was my favorite of us in high school. She thought. Graduation was a great day for everyone, but for Sam and Austin it meant freedom. They would finally be free of all the criticism. They were the only ones to broke the high school dating code. Being able to ignore what everyone else said or thought was a big step in their relationship. It definitely was going to be a tough mountain to climb, but during hard times they managed to weather the storm. Sam for the second time wiped away her tears with a tissue and ventured on through the rest of the pictures. I wonder what other memories I'll find in here...
