The Enigma

Hikaru grandfather is a famous Go player who has many titles and is famous for teaching Touya Kouyo. When Hikaru is kidnapped and his parents brutally murdered he goes to live with his grandfather who in the past deemed Go more important than Family.

Shindo Hikaru was an enigma in the world of Go Professionals. His grandfather Shindo Heiachi was famous in the Go world for being the holder of four titles. He had taught and mentored the current meijin Touya Kouyo. He had realized his talent from when he was young. He had also taken on Touya Akira recently in hope of accomplishing what his father did. Some would say that Shindo Heiachi was the closest to obtaining the Hand of God.

Flashback

During the Gujun Title tournament between Touya Kouyo and his teacher Shindo Heiachi the secretary ran in to the room panting with a phone in her hand.

" Heiachi – kun" she whispered in the silent room.

"Yes, what is it Sakura – chan"

"There is a phone call for you from the police in Hokura"

Heiachi looked up pausing from his game as the go officials and spectators too looked up to look at the secretary silently thinking of what could be in the small farm land that could catch the Go professionals attention.

"What's wrong in Hokura" he said his voice straining as he thought of all the possibilities of what could happen to his son and his family.

"I'm sorry Heiachi – kun but there has been an accident, your son and his wife were killed"

At the news he looked down at the board his hair covering his face as Kouyo looked at him in shock only having met his son twice.

"Hikaru was kidnapped and the kidnappers demanded a ransom which they were willing to pay, but the two men shot them when the police arrived. Hikaru is in the hospital right now and supposed to being going into surgery at Tokyo Hospital"

"Who's Hikaru" asked Touya quietly

"My grandson" he said

"I'm sorry I must leave, I will forfeit my title since I must leave the tournament." He said and he walked out of the room without a second glace.

Flashback Ends

After that day Heiachi left the Go world with not even turning to look back. The Shindo family motto was Family first and Heiachi had forgotten it and left his family to suffer. But now he had Hikaru and would repair the damage he had done.

I will do what is best for Hikaru even if that means leaving the Go world forever he vowed in his mind while driving his way to the hospital.
