Christmas Special!

Gene knocked on the door to Essie's house. He was holing a large package.

Max opened the door "Don't want any. Get lost." she slammed the door in his face.

Gene scowled and pounded on the door with his fist.

Essie opened it "Come in Gene. Sorry about Max."

"Its okay." Gene said while secretly plotting against Max's life.

Max glared at him "You got in."

"Duh."

Gene put his gift on the table then sat next to Essie's cousin's Bobbie and Brennan.

Bobbie was playing with her doll and Brennan was making truck noises while playing with his truck.

Pepper ran in and hugged Max making her jump "Merry Christmas Max!"

Max pried her arms off "Pepper, How did you get in?"

"I carded the door!'" said Pepper.

Max rolled her eyes "Joy. Now I need to get a better lock."

Pepper put her present on the table and sat next to Essie "Merry Christmas Essie!"

Essie hugged Pepper "Merry Christmas. Thanks for coming."

"I'm glad I could."

Rhodey and Tony came in followed by Max "Behold, Thing One and Thing Two."

Tony laughed "Merry Christmas Grumbler."

The two boys joined the girls in the living room.

"Thanks for inviting us to your party Essie." Pepper said.

"Your welcome."

Max grunted out "When do you leave?"

Rhodey smiled "But Max its Christmas! Why don't you show some of the spirit?"

"Okay then I will... Bah Humbug!"

Gene sighed "That's not the Christmas Spirit Max."

Max asked "Its from a Christmas book isn't it?"

Pepper was braiding Bobbie's hair "Why don't you like Christmas Max?"

"Its so Material! Its all about the Decorations and Presents now these things are okay but its not what Christmas is about." explained Max

Tony wondered "What IS Christmas about?"

Essie reached over Gene and picked up an old worn book. The front read Holy Bible. "Its found here in Luke 2."

Essie began to feel the braille "And There where in the same country Shepherds abiding in the field, Keeping watch over there flock by night and, lo an angel of the Lord came upon them, and the Glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they where sore afraid.

"And the Angel said unto them, Fear Not: for behold I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City Of David a Savior, Which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger."

"And suddenly there was with the angel there was a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace, good will toward men." "

Essie closed the book "And That is what Christmas is really about."

Pepper raised her hand.

Max said "Yes, you in the back."

"Is that where Nativity scenes come from?" The redhead asked.

"Yep."

Tony raised his hand "Is that where the song 'The First Noel' Comes from?"

Max nodded "Yes."

Gene said "You know, I never heard that story before. Its really nice thanks for reading it Essie."

"Your welcome. Now who wants cookies?"

Bobbie and Brennan raised their little hands "We do!"

Rhodey raised his hand "No, I do!"

Everyone headed to the dining room the Nativity scene on the living room coffee table. Gene turned to look at it and narrowed his eyes. He could have sworn the Shepherd winked at him.

"Gene, hurray up or Rhodey's going to eat all the cookies!" Tony shouted.

Gene shrugged and went into the kitchen. Must have been his imagination.

Christmas is a religious Holiday. I am sorry if I have offended anyone but I think its important to remember why we celebrate.
