Burning Love

Author's Notes: Okay, now, this story came about while I was watching X2 on DVD for the millionth time and I was thinking of doing another fic about Wolf and Pyro (read "Ice Moon and Fire Wolf" and "Torched" for more info on Wolf). And it's been a while since I wrote a purely fluffy romantic fic and I thought it would be great for the fans of the Wolf/Pyro couple or just fans of Wolf in general. So, enjoy this fluffy fic.

One of Wolf Riverson's favorite things about the Xavier mansion was its gardens. It wasn't a well known fact, but Wolf was most at peace when she was surrounded by gardens. So, it was in the center of the perfectly manicured rose garden that John Allardyce managed to find her one day at sunset.

"You know that none of the roses can hold a candle to you in terms of beauty, don't you?" John asked with small smirk.

Wolf giggled and turned her head, her golden eyes shining. "You know, I could smell you the moment you set foot in the garden."

"Oh?"

"Yes…I only stayed silent because I was lost in thought." Wolf stood up from the bench and smiled a little. "By the way could you tell me why I'm smelling wax?"

John flicked his lighter and suddenly, hundreds of candles came to life all around Wolf, illuminating the garden.

Wolf laughed. "How long have you been planning this?"

"A while." Came John's reply as he approached her. Soft music was playing somewhere nearby. "It's really really hard to catch you off guard."

"Well, it's a nice surprise." Wolf admitted. No one had done such a sweet, romantic thing for her before. "John, you're so romantic."

He shrugged and placed his lighter in his pocket, then took Wolf into his arms. "Shall we dance?" he asked in his best fake British accent, which made Wolf giggle.

"We shall." She said softly and they simply danced around the gardens, ignoring everything except each other.

For Wolf, it was easier than expected because she managed to block out everything except maybe the smell of him. John smelled, at least to her, of burning wood and musk and the general smell of a man. It was very intoxicating.

"You smell like fire." Wolf whispered into his ear.

"You know what I smell like?" he asked softly.

"Yes," she whispered. "It's sexy."

"Oh, Wolf….guess what?"

"What?"

"Learned a new trick."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah"

"Show me."

John chuckled and then every flame in the area flared and shot into the air above the koi fish pond, entwining and connecting until there, hovering in the air above the pond was a giant flaming heart.

Wolf looked ready to cry. "Oh John!"

"But wait….there's more." John murmured softly as he pulled away from Wolf and got down on one knee. He pulled a small black velvet jewelry box out of his pocket.

Wolf placed her hand over her mouth and began to cry softly.

He opened the box to reveal a small diamond ring lying neatly on the velvet bed. "Marry me, Wolf." He said softly.

Wolf sobbed. "YES! Yes, John I will marry you!"
