A/N: Another cute Sev/Lily story. These are so much fun to write! R&R!

As Long As He Has Your Eyes

"You're my best friend, Lily. I'll always be there for you." Severus said.

It was a sunny day. A bit breezy, but warm. Severus sat with his back up against the tree. Lily was lying in front of him, staring up at the sky between the branches.

"Yeah, ok. Always?" Lily smiled playfully.

"Yeah, always." Severus stared at her, surprised that she would question his loyalty.

Lily rolled onto her stomach and looked up at him. "What if I did something bad?"

Severus's brow furrowed. "I would forgive you."

Lily began to pick at the grass. "What if…" Lily thought, trying to find the most awful thing she could. "What if I married James Potter?" She gave him a sly half-smile. "Would you still be my friend?"

"Well, yeah. But that scenario would never happen, so it doesn't count."

Giggling, Lily rolled onto her back, shaking her finger under Severus's hooked nose. "You never know…"

"But you hate him!" Severus glared at her. Lily rolled back onto her stomach.

"Cool it, Sev, I was only kidding..." She continued picking grass. "But." She stopped and glanced up at him, her sly smile returning. "What if we had a kid together?"

Severus's lip curled and he looked away. "Lily, stop it. That's just—"

"Wait, I'm not done!" She was laughing. "What if we had a kid together, and he looked just like James." she smiled at his disgusted reaction. "And, under a terrible turn of events, I, and my husband James, died an unfortunate, early, death. Would you care for my poor child?"

"What kind of question is that?" Severus stared at her, completely bewildered. "I mean, how do you even come up with this stuff?"

Lily began laughing again, rolling on the ground. "Just answer it, Sev!"

Severus thought a moment. "Yeah, I'd care for your kid."

"Even if he looked like James?"

"As long as he has your eyes."

Lily laughed. "Promise?"

"Promise."
