/CHAPTER ONE/
Inside the Trancy Manor, Alois Trancy was flouncing around in Hannah Anafeloz's dress once again. Amelia, his cousin, watched in horror. "Alois.." she told him. "He's going to arrive soon.. If you continue to act like this once he's here, our family will have a bad reputation!"
"Oh, Amelia," he laughed. "Don't you know any better? The Viscount would just think of me as your sister while our 'cousin' was doing some errands in France." When Alois said cousin, he used air quotations to emphasize. Alois did have a point. They looked close enough to be twins, especially if Alois had longer hair. They had the same face shape, eye color and shape, complexion, and so on.
Amelia rolled her eyes, her attention turning to the door, where Claude waited. "I still don't think it's a good idea..."
Alois patted her back, harder than Amelia would like, beaming a smile at her. "Calm down, my worrisome cousin! It'll be-!"
Alois was interrupted by a loud knock on the door. Amelia quickly opened a door to the coat room and shoved Alois inside. He shouted in opposition, but Amelia ignored it. Once Alois was inside the coat room, she slammed the door and leaned against it, keeping the door closed when Alois began to pound on the door. Claude opened it after a few seconds with a straight face. "We've been expecting you, Viscount Chamber."
Chamber walked inside the Trancy Manor, glancing around at the manor's decor, his moving eyes stopping at Amelia. He swiftly moved over to her, gabbing her hands, pulling her away from the door. "Oh, my sweet little blue jay, why don't you come to the ball that is being held tonight at my mansion?" his eyes widen in anticipation. Amelia's eyes widen in question at being called a blue jay. "It'll be quite exceptional for you, my dear."
"B-Blue jay..?" was all Amelia could respond with. She was still caught off guard from what he had called her. Sure, she was wearing a dress with multiple shades of blue that had ended at her ankles, as well as her light blue eyes that had somewhat of an icy glint to it, but that was all.
"You're cousin, Alois, said he was going to attend!" Aleister Chamber continued, ignoring her response. "So, wouldn't you come as well?" He turned his back to her, looking into the distance. "Oh, it would be brilliant! Just imagine, the Earl of Trancy and his fiancé!"
Amelia's eye twitched. W-Who said we were together..? she thought. The Viscount turned his head back to Amelia with a pleading smile. She sighed before glancing away, murmuring, "Alright.. I'll go..."
Chamber let go of her, beaming. "My little blue jay, you won't forget tonight! It will be momentous!" He began to dance around the room, as Amelia stared at him, completely confused. She began to back away towards the door Alois was locked into.
Before long, the Viscount danced out of the manor. Amelia quickly opened the door and saw Alois on the ground, laughing hard. "What's so funny..?"
"He..called you..blue jay..!" Alois said in between breaths. Amelia blushed red and glanced away.
"He would've called you something even more ridiculous if I didn't put you in that room," Amelia murmured. Alois stuck out his tongue as he walked out of the coat room.
"So, blue jay," Alois began, glancing back at her to tease Amelia. "You're coming to the ball with me, aren't you? Where something blue that compliments me, myself, and I!"
Alois did a spin and Amelia sighed, rolling her eyes. Did he really have to dance like the Viscount? He'd be doing it plenty at the ball.. If anything, I should be dancing, since I know I won't be doing any dancing since Chambers would be trying to go somewhere private with me... Amelia shivered at the thought, but quickly brushed it off.
"I'm going to my room," Amelia stated, bluntly. She waved behind her as she walked down the hall, up the stairs to her room.
