"Link, give me the ocarina." The full grown Zelda held out her hand "You must live your childhood. An adult cannot be without a childhood to learn from." Link looked at her in disbelief. He was an adult; he was forced to be one. Now he was, and he knew more than any other how to cherish a childhood. The blonde held the ocarina to his own lips. He played the minute of forest, tying to get away from the insistent Princess. She took it from his hands, and played her lullaby. Link hadn't felt more defeated. His thoughts lingered on promises, to Malon, to the real Sheik (1) and to-
He couldn't finish but saw his dark copy's face. He had promised to rid him of darkness, and to travel to different lands with him. Link looked at his child body, and almost cried. He had the mind of an adult now, with all he remembered. The hero sighed and took on a mask, only he could wear. He had no childhood, not with what he had gone through. The Princess hadn't understood him at all.
Loner:
Years passed slowly, Link barely making through life. He no longer talked to Saria, let alone anyone. A soon as he could, he promised himself, he would go to the temple under the lake. Link would save his best friend no matter how much trouble he got into. He doesn't break promises.
Home:
Another few years pass, and Link is now a strong 15 year old Hylian. He has moved to Kakariko, met his promise to Sheik and Malon to visit. He often visits Sheik as his house is near his own (again refer to 1). Link set off to find Dark
Friends:
When he rescued the dark being, he had been extremely happy, also remembering the young blonde's promise. Link showed Dark all around Hyrule, and letting him meet his best friend the Sheikah. Together they were very happy, nothing could get in the way of the trio of friends.
Love:
It didn't take long for the two twin Links to realize that their bonds were deeper than they thought. All it took was a prompt from Sheik, and a kiss. The two had never been happier in each other's arms as they slept soundly. Their ninja friend smiled to himself, wondering when his goddess chosen love will come for him.
1: I usually go by that the Princess copied Sheik's form and there is a real Sheik who lived with Impa until she moved to the castle. He owns her small cottage in Kakariko and helps protect the village, and make potions with the old potion shop woman.
