She sat staring blackly at the blackboard in deep thought. She couldn't stop thinking about their moment only hours before. Only one word was spoken and it had only lasted seconds. A single noun; spoken by her. It was the first time she had spoken this word in front of anyone in years. She seem to think the word existed. She hated it; but he made her say it. And not be angry.

He watched the back of her head. No one would see that as unusual. Unless they knew what he was thinking. She had only spoke one word, but it was the one he had dreamt of her saying it for years. It was a strange dream to have, but to him hearing her say it would make him realise what she thought. One of his friends had noticed a change in him, but did not point it out.

The door opened and class began. They answered any questions directed to them and did as they were told, with the usual back row disruption.

The bell rang and they were called to the front of the room. Given orders. Then allowed to leave.

The silence between them was a very awkward one. Neither of them spoke, though they both wanted to:

He wanting to admit it was him that she was crying on.

She wanting to admit that she was wrong and had changed her mind about him.

He was the one who broke the silence first. He didn't confess it was him, but did ask the same six word question he always asked her.

This time it had a very different response. She didn't go mad at him, look at him angrily or even storm off in the opposite direction as she normally did.

She stared up at him for a very long time and gave a simple one word, three letter reply.

He looked very surprised but cheered up when he realised that she wasn't being sarcastic.

He smiled.

She smiled.

He stretched out a tanned hand.

She gave her dainty one in return.

This is my dream come true.
