Title- Still Her Doctor

Rating-K

Summary-This new Doctor scares Rose to start with, but she soon realises, he is still Her Doctor. 10Rose. Set just post-regeneration.

Disclaimer-I still don't own anything. Sadly.

Rose sat hunched on the seat at the edge of the console. The Doctor, wait, the new doctor was practically running round the console with an alarming nervous energy. His speech came in a continuous flow, hardly stopping for breath and only pausing to throw her a wild grin. A reassuring grin except it didn't reassure rose. She felt like a hapless particle swept away on the edge of a hurricane. She was breathless and scared. Scared of the Doctor, not her Doctor, he wasn't that anymore. He was just, someone, she didn't know him. She didn't feel safe anymore, not like the old Doctor made her feel. This man, this alien seemed to career out of control through everything, just like he was currently leaping round the console, flicking random switches that Rose was sure the old Doctor never touched. With her Doctor she always knew it would be ok, but right now she felt like she was slipping over the edge of a sheer drop and The Doctor wouldn't be there to catch her, because he was already halfway down before her.

He crashed down in the seat next to her with a reckless grin.

"We'll be there in a bit" he pronounced happily.

Rose shot him an alarmed look "Where?" She asked quickly.

"Ah," He said teasingly "You'll have to wait and see"

She didn't like that. The old Doctor could tell when she was scared and needed reassuring, he would never have left her in the dark about something. She hugged her knees tighter and stared determinedly ahead. Trying to stay still within the sense of fear and chaos she felt whipping up inside her stomach.

She caught a glance of his face as he watched her. He looked worried. Worried for her? she wondered. How could he be, she didn't even know him. "Rose…" he placed a hand lightly on her arm. She flinched away from his touch. "Rose, Rose," he murmured, drawing close to her, "it's me" Rose lifted her gaze to look at him. His eyes were wide and pleading as he watched her. He wasn't her Doctor but there was something, Rose saw as he finally sat still and quiet, something not so very different from her Doctor yet polar opposite too. She smiled hesitantly at him and was rewarded with a wide grin. He wrapped his arms round her shoulders and drew her in for a tight hug as Rose snuggled against him, there was something comfortably familiar about that hug as she took in the new texture of his coat and this new Doctor's smell. He rested his chin on her head for a moment and then pulled away to look at her. "Ok?" he asked and Rose smiled in reply. "Yeah, I'm fine"

"Off we go then!" he proclaimed jumping up and rushing round the console with a grin across his face.

Rose found herself grinning too, sharing in his infectious energy. He was so different now, complete with the hyper-active energy of a five-year-old child and a grin as wide as a Cheshire cat's, but he was still The Doctor. Her Doctor.

The End

I quite like this piece. I like how the Tenth Doctor can swap so quickly from hyper to calm and sensitive. Hopefully this portrayed that just a little. I have another couple of stories that are just to be typed up and one at least should be online by tomorrow night.
