A Simple Necklace
Summary: No-one noticed the necklace that hung around her neck….
Sort of a prequel to reminders. Just a short drabble.

She started wearing a necklace with a simple silver band on it, just before Dumbledore was murdered. She never once took it off. She acquired it during the week without fuss. In fact it was three days before anyone noticed she was wearing a necklace, at all, let alone one with a ring as its only pendant.
He had acquired a new ring on his left hand. When questioned about it, he declared it a new heirloom which would only fit on that finger. No-one asked again.
They told lies to cover the disappearances. They made up assignments, urgent letters that needed to be responded to right away, tests which required hours of studying in the library, and 'No thank you, I need to focus on this essay and you would just be a distraction' excuses.
They married only to cement the bond they shared. It was a stupid thing to do in hindsight, they had only just become of age, but to them it didn't matter.
Because if one of the was to die then at least the other would have the memories.
Harry was always checking the map nowadays. It made it harder for her to slip away, unnoticed. But it wasn't her he was focusing on. It was the one she was heading for. If Harry paid enough attention he would have noticed that it wasn't just Malfoy, who would vanish of the map for long periods.
