Title: Silver
Summary: Cloud must truly love the color silver...
Warnings: Implied yaoi, implied het, blonde-ness...
Disclaimer: I own very little. And none of it has to do with FFVII.
Side Note: Just a short one-shot.
The first time Cloud had realized his affection towards the color silver, he was a teenager who had first set his eyes upon a picture of Sephiroth. He could easily argue that moment had set off his life-long addiction to silver. Simple things like jewelry and little trinkets often sidetracked him for hours at a time. He was usually put at the butt of most jokes; often called blonde by the fact that if something silvery sparkled nearby, it had his undivided attention. There was just something about the way that the simple color had refracted and reflected light across its surface that mesmerized the blonde.
It had gotten to the point where the rest of Avalanche made sure to keep him out of the slums just in case there was a vendor with a whole cart full of shiny items that were for sale.
So, arguably, it was not too far of a stretch to see why he had fallen for the slacker of the Turks; the redhead had a silver tongue, that was for sure. When the redhead had sauntered into the Seventh Heaven that night, Cloud was completely along in his booth. The redhead had sunk into the seat across from him with a sneaky grin on his face as he flipped his long ponytail over his shoulder, spouting line after pickup line at the savior of the planet. The blonde swordsman was prepared to tell the redhead off, to let him know, once more, that he was not interested when he paused. He had never noticed before that the redheaded Turk had silver hoop earrings. Usually when he was around the lanky and taller man, he was keeping track of what the thin man was doing rather than what type of jewelry he was wearing. After all, the last time they had run into one another, Tifa had claimed that the redhead had groped her. So he kept his eyes on the redhead every time he came close purely to keep him from groping the females in his team.
"You paying attention, yo?" Reno cut into his thoughts startling the blonde and sending him crashing back to reality.
"Huh?" Cloud countered as he blinked, looking slightly confused and out of place. The look on the blonde's face brought a salacious smirk to the redhead's face as he leaned closer to him from across the table.
"You feeling all right, yo? Been staring at my face for the past few minutes. Got something in my teeth?"
"You're wearing earrings," the swordsman said as he blinked. Why was Reno worried about his teeth? "...I never noticed before."
"Heh, you got a nice one yourself, yo," the redhead said almost provocatively as his hand slid under the table before resting on the blonde's thigh.
"They're silver," Cloud continued as if he did not notice the hand one his thigh while he finished his shot. Bright blue eyes flicked back to the silver hoops that hung from the redhead's ears, enthralled by the way that the simple hoops caught the light from the lamps and through it around. The light breaking off into rays of color that held his attention and reminded him of when he had first seen Sephiroth under the sunlight.
Captivated with the way that the light danced across the surface of the metal, Cloud missed seeing the seductive smirk that lit up Reno's face. "Want to see some of the other ones I have?" Cloud nodded and followed Reno out of the booth with the hope that the redhead would show him some more silvery items, not noticing that it was the Turk's silver tongue and his naive love of silver that had lured him into letting down his guard and falling for the pickup line.
...Then again, the vodka helped.
