She can definitely hear the ticking of the clock as she stood infront of her unyeilding boss for three and a half years now. Her eyes completely drowning in his as they both locked in an intense staring competion. Her breath was jagged, uneven and the tension is slowly clamping against her throat almost strangling her.

"Mai."

His voice sounded deep and heavy it was the first time she had seen him this riled up. Her breath started to puff in the thin air. The temperature must have dropped in a considerate amount as it cools down her body.

"I did not do anything wrong." She said. Her face showed no expression but deep inside she was shaking

'I did it for you.'

If she say those words would he understand? if she say those words would he reconsider? She bit her lip.

"Why did you tampered with the investigation records on our last case, Mai? I should atleast know why before you go." Naru clenched his knuckles until it turned white

'It told me what will happen to you in the future. It told me how you'll die.'

"I did it by accident. " she replied.

"You are not good at lying, Mai."

"I am not."

"Where is the tape?"

"I dont-"

Naru slammed his hand on the table forcefully and it broke. Mai stared at him in surprise jolting in fear as he stood up and walked towards her forcefully grabbing her arm.

"Why did you do this Mai? I know you. You wont do this kind of thing. Why now?"

'I dont want you to worry. I dont want you to be scared. I dont want you to die. If we are together you'd always end up saving me. I dont want you to get hurt because of me.'

Mai looked at him deeply in his eyes as if she was trying to memorize every detail of his face. His eyes. His nose. His lips. His cheeks. His jaw.

How she wanted to touch his face and hug him. How she wanted to tell him what is happening. But she can't. She must leave. Disappear from his life.

"Im sorry, Naru." She cried. her tears free falling like a dam.

Naru looked at down at her taking his arm with him as he strode back to the window. overlooking the city. He must've hurt her he knew how forceful his grip was and his anger is not helping any of it.

"Then I have no choice but to fire you."
