This is a random little one shot I felt like doing. WARNING: Character death.
Jellal Fernandes was a broken man.
He had first been broken when he was taken to the Tower of Heaven.
But he met a girl with scarlet hair
And she had fixed him.
But then he was broken again
When they broke her.
He broke for the third time when Ultear possessed him
And he nearly killed the girl who started a rebellion
Just to save a lost boy.
He broke when Natsu freed him
So it was a good breaking
One that helped him.
He merged once
And wouldn't recommend the experience to anyone
Seriously
It was painful.
He broke for the fourth time when Wendy healed him
His memories were there
Then – bam! – Gone.
It hurt when they came back.
He broke again
When the Rune Knights arrested him.
Oh, no, it wasn't him who caused his breaking
It was that scarlet-haired girl.
She let him go, and he was glad
He even remembered why it was her last name.
But she broke
And that broke him.
He physically broke in prison
When that Nadal tortured him
But he could talk to Erza
He helped her win (that's how he liked to think of it)
Why?
He wasn't sure. Nobody really was.
Mirajane was convinced it was the strongest magic of all – love.
But that was Mirajane for you.
He was broken once more
When he learned that she had died
He couldn't believe it
He couldn't accept it
So he launched Altairis at a tree
And another tree
And some more trees
And a bush
Don't forget the bush.
Nothing could compare to the time
When they almost kissed
But then he pushed her away
Because he couldn't fall in love
With someone who walked in the light.
He was broken again
When he saw her
Laying there
Bloodied and bruised
Under all that rubble
He had to save her
From the hatchlings
No matter what.
And he did.
But it was all for nothing.
Because as she's lying there
Her blood mingling with her hair
With the life bleeding out of her
And he is looking around for Wendy
Or Chelia
Just someone who could help her…
He realized that there was nothing he could do
She was gone
And in that moment
Jellal Fernandes knew
That he would forever and always be a broken man.
