The Breath That Kills
The petite frame of Sakura was bent over the sprawled out body of Sasuke. His breath came in short wheezy bursts.
"Oh Sasuke!" Sakura cried, "what has Orochimaru done to you?"
Her hand rested on the bloodstained cloth that was Sasuke's sleeve.
A small transparent tear sparkled as it descended down his colorless cheek and into his ear making it quite moist. All the color was slowly draining from his body as Orochimaru's stab wound took effect.
His black eyes stared into her bright green ones. He never responded to Sakura's cry. So she said it again.
"Sasuke what has he done to you?"
Once again silence. So Sakura felt that he couldn't hear her.
"Sasuke. Sasuke. Sasuke." She kept repeating the name. "Sasu-"
"Shut up." Came a dry voice coming from Sasuke's mouth.
"I can hear you."
His pale hand slowly grasped hers. He lifted them up to his face.
"Sakura…" He said in a quiet voice with a hint of sorrow in it. "There's something that I've always wanted to tell you."
Sakura's eyes gleamed with a little bit of happiness.
"What is it Sasuke?"
His eyes intensely stared into hers.
"You- you… You need to brush your teeth!"
Sakura jumped back.
"What?"
"Yes!" He screamed. "That's why I left in Season 5, Episode 109! Your halitosis is making me sick! It's gonna make me die faster than the wound that Orochi put in me!"
"Oh Sasuke! Is there anything I can do?"
"Yes let me die in peace and go away."
He reached into one of his pockets and pulled out a small white tube.
"Here," he said, handing the tube to Sakura. "It's toothpaste with whitening ability! Now go away and brush your teeth before you kill all of the residents of the Leaf Village or cause them to betray like I did."
Sakura took the tube, tears forming in her green eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me this?" She asked, with her lemon stained teeth shining brighter than her hair which was brightly colored pink.
"Well I didn't. Now go…. Away…" His last breath escaped his mouth with that word.
Sakura ran home and cried and cried. Not for the fact that Sasuke died, but for the fact that her breath and teeth were disgusting.
