My belief:

"The just are those who stand for what they believe and want to protect it no matter what the cost. Your ideas of right and wrong might be different from another but surely if they give whatever they have for their beliefs you consider to be wrong, they are as just as you when you fight for your beliefs of right."

A distraction. A quick jab through the heart. A mournful cry. A silent goodbye.

It all happened so fast; there's no way he could have stopped it, could he? No, of course not. Besides, he was a pirate and pirates are evil. The world is better off without people like him. He removed his hat and studied it. In bold lettering it read MARINE across the front. A word of good, of law, of order, and, most importantly, of justice. When he was sure of that fact he placed it back on his head.

He looked back down to the body lying before him and then to the blade in his hand, the blood on it a grim reminder of the scene that had just played itself out. That he had just played out.

This guilt, why did it plague him so? This is what he was told to do! This was what he wanted!

Okay, so maybe it wasn't what he had wanted, but it's justice and there is no question of justice.

His fingers slid over the knife in his hand, his eyes draw to the blood still staining it. This is what he had to do, if he wanted to reach his dream of becoming a Vice-admiral.

His dream.

Had the pirate whose life he had just taken had dreams? Who was he to take those dreams away for the sake of his own? He tossed the idea around in his head, the guilt ever growing. The realization of what he had just done creeping into the cracks in his mind like vipers slithering in the grass waiting to strike. Running through his mind scratching and clawing like the claws of rats.

Oh, the guilt. Oh, the guilt, the guilt, the guilt. It wouldn't leave him.

It was still there and it was going to kill him.

"No..."

A voice came from behind him.

He turned.

"What have you done!?"

The sound of quick feet. Scuffling heels. Then.

A distraction.

A quick jab through the heart.

A mournful cry.

A dead man's lullaby.

He glanced back down at the boy as he fell. Why did he look so happy?

Crimson paradise filled his vision. And with that, he relinquished his justice.

Comment on who you think these people are. Hint: There are only three characters and the marine is actually some random marine. So, who are the other two?
