Nero and Kyrie
It was the middle of the night and Nero and Kyrie were lying in bed. Kyrie had her head on Nero's bare chest and he had one arm under his head and the other around her waist. They were both asleep which was the first time in many nights as Nero usually keep watch all night. Suddenly the silence was broken as the window in the bedroom shattered and a dark form rushed in. Nero woke the millisecond after hearing the noise but he wasn't quite fast enough. The demon had hold of Kyrie and was dragging her, as she struggled desperately, towards the open window. Nero rolled to the side of the bed grabbed Red Queen from the side where it was leaning against the wall. He turned and leap forward. He travelled through the air, Red Queen out in front of him, heading with devastating force towards the attack. A blood curdling scream pierced the darkness as the Demon hit the floor and Kyrie along with it. Nero only realised what had happened when it was too late. As he thrust his sword into the demon's chest the curved end of the blade and cut Kyrie a long 2 inch gash across her check. The moment he saw the blood he threw Red Queen on the floor. He picked up Kyrie was nearly incoherent in shock; there was lines of blood running down her face. All Nero could do was say he was sorry over and over again as he carried her down the stairs to the kitchen where he cleaned up the wound and he told Kyrie to hold the bandage over it and apply pressure. All the time Kyrie just stared at Nero. Nero then decided to be on the safe side to take Kyrie to hospital. She managed to walk on a few steps out of the house upon which she nearly collapsed so Nero picked her up and carried her the half mile or so to the hospital. When they arrived the nurses took Kyrie from Nero and ushered her into the hospital. We waited for a while before one of the nurses came out and told him that they were going to put a couple stiches in and she would be out in a few hours. Nero asked to see her and the nurse showed him through the long winding passages to a small room where Kyrie was sitting on one of the hospital beds. She had a long white bandage on her face but she smiled at him as she walked in. It was a smile that didn't being in the barren room and it was a smile that sure should be for him. He walked to her bed and knelt beside, he kept his head down but Kyrie noticed a single tear fall and hit the sheets. Nero said "I'm so sorry Kyrie. Can you ever even begin to forgive me for what I've done?" Kyrie swing her legs out of the bed and walked to the window. She said "Come over her please?" in such a sweet tone that Nero couldn't reuse. He picked himself off the floor and went to join her by the window. Kyrie sidled closer to him as he got to the window and for a couple of minutes they just stood and looked at the sky filled with stars. Kyrie, after a pause, took one or Nero's hand and placed it over her heart. She said;
"Nero, there is nothing to forgive. If you had let that demon take me then I wouldn't be here, I would rather be with a scar than taken away from you. You are my hero Nero, never forget that."
All the time Kyrie was speaking Nero felt the rhythmic beating of her heart through his hands. After she finished speaking, Nero turned and put his arms round her waist. He whispered into her ear.
"There is no won more beautiful that you, from all the stars in the sky to everything on earth. I wouldn't swap one night with you for any of it. I love you from the very bottom of my heart."
Kyrie began to blush and to try and hide her embarrassment she began to trace the scales on his demonic hand. After a while Kyrie had a thought.
"Anyway, I think I may quite like this battle scar. Makes me look tougher I think."
Nero laughed as he kissed her. "You might just have to put that assumption to the test!"
