A/N: This is written for Olive Butter's Mirror of Erised challenge. It is about Dobby and his desires before Harry freed him. Enjoy

Dobby walked through Hogwarts castle with his master, Lucius Malfoy. Dobby could tell that he was mad, though he didn't know why.

"Wait around here," the Malfoy lord told the tiny elf strictly and then he stalked off to somewhere.

Dobby looked around the hallway. There wasn't much there, except for a strange looking mirror near the wall. It seemed to pull at Dobby's attention. He looked around for his master then, seeing as no one was around, he walked towards the huge mirror.

Looking into it, he saw himself but then, a second later, Harry Potter was standing behind him, smiling down at him. Dobby looked behind him quickly but Harry Potter was not there. Confused, Dobby looked back into the mirror.

The Dobby in the mirror, as well as Harry, had stepped to the right and on came Lucius Malfoy himself. This made Dobby even more confused than he had been before.

His master bent down to the Dobby in the mirror and took out one of his favorite cloaks. The Dobby looking into the mirror couldn't believe his eyes. By the looks of things, neither did the Dobby in the mirror.

Dobby in the mirror gladly took the cloak into his bandaged hands. Lucius nodded at him and then again at Harry and walked away.

Dobby's reflection beamed at Harry and Harry grinned back. Harry then bent down and hugged the Dobby in the mirror.

After their hug, both Harry and Dobby in the mirror waved at the Dobby looking into it. The real Dobby waved back at them.

Dobby took a step back and saw that there were words on the top. They read: Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi. Dobby wondered what they meant.

Loud footsteps were coming down the hall and Dobby ran back to his master. Said master kicked the little elf, who squealed loudly.

"Come, Dobby" the Malfoy lord said in a strict tone. Dobby quickly struggled up and ran after his master, with a final look at the mirror as he ran past it.

His last, final thought about it was; I wish I could be the elf in the mirror and be free.

Little did he know that, in a few minutes, he would be that elf. Just not in the way that the mirror showed him.

End A/N: Well, that was quite fun. This was my first time writing Dobby, and he's very fun to write. Review please?
