A Twelve Kingdoms version of the Irish tune "The Nightingale"
Legal Disclaimer: I do not own Twelve Kingdoms or "The Nightingale"
After several requests, I added the final verse.
As I took a walk in Kei-koku one day,
I spied a young couple, so fondly did stray.
One was a young maid so sweet and so fair.
And the other was a Hanjyuu as it was made clear.
And they kissed so sweet and comforting as they clung to each other.
They went arm in arm along the road like sister and brother.
They went arm in arm along the road til they came to a stream.
And they both sat down together, love, to hear the auld Seichou sing.
Well, out of his knapsack a flute did appear.
He played her such merry tunes that you ever did hear.
He played her such merry tunes that the valley did ring.
And softly cried the fair maid as the auld Seichou sings.
And they kissed so sweet and comforting as they clung to each other.
They went arm in arm along the road like sister and brother.
They went arm in arm along the road til they came to a stream.
And they both sat down together, love, to hear the auld Seichou sing.
Oh, I'm off to En-koku for several long years.
I'll drink Sake's good tidings instead of my tears.
And if ever I return again 'twill be in the spring.
And we'll both sit down together love to hear the auld Seichou sing.
And they kissed so sweet and comforting as they clung to each other.
They went arm in arm along the road like sister and brother.
They went arm in arm along the road til they came to a stream.
And they both sat down together, love, to hear the auld Seichou sing.
Oh Hanjyuu, oh Hanjyuu, oh will you marry me?
Oh yes my fair maiden, oh yes it shall be.
And unto this kingdom our souls bound shall be,
For you are the sweetest little thing that I ever did see.
And they kissed so sweet and comforting as they clung to each other.
They went arm in arm along the road like sister and brother.
They went arm in arm along the road til they came to a stream.
And they both sat down together, love, to hear the auld Seichou sing.
