Chapter 1
King Aerisius kneeled he regarded the temple of the Oracle at Delphi. It was very large, but not as large as the temples of the gods. There were white pillars surrounding an altar. The walls were made out of stone, and the floor was made out of marble; the ceiling was open to the sky, so that Zeus could watch the oracle.
"Great Oracle at Delphi," Aerisius spoke, "What lies in store for me?"
Just then, a cloud of steam rose and formed a figure standing over the alter. It took the shape of a beautiful young woman dressed in a stunning white chiton; she moved closer to Aerisius and spoke into his mind.
When velvet red and ichor combine
Then shall the future's hopes align
A mighty kingdom's heir divine
Shall ruler and heir's destinies entwine
In years to come the past is hollow
Until there comes a day when death will follow
He strikes his blade as swift as death
And Ruler takes his dying breath
Before the throne stands the heir
When a hero's welcome they shall declare
Aerisius could only stare and the oracle as she disappeared. He knew that he was the ruler mentioned in the prophecy, but the current heir could only be Danae, his only child. The prophecy spoke of a coming heir, which could only be Danae's son. Fearful for his life, he set out back to his kingdom of Argos, thinking about how to save himself.
"No!" Screamed Danae as the guards grabbed hold of her arms and was dragging her out of her room. "Why are you doing this?" She asked Aerisius.
Aerisius didn't answer and just ordered the guards to lock her up in the sealed chamber. Following their king's orders, they threw their princess into a bronze chamber overlooking the sea. She was to stay confined.
Beautiful Danae sat in her chamber and passed the time by opening the small window and gazing at the sea until she fell asleep.
The moonlight glittered on the sea as a spray of mist came splashing over to the bronze chamber. Danae suddenly awoke to find a strange mist in her room; suddenly, a golden light shone so bright that she had to shield her eyes. When she looked again, there, in the place of the golden light, stood a handsome man with sea green eyes and jet black hair.
"Who are you?" Danae asked. The man smiled.
"They call me Poseidon," he answered.
She gazed into his eyes and the next thing she knew she was in love.
Danae woke up the next morning to find that she didn't remember anything that happened the last night.
As a few weeks passed, she started throwing up, feeling terrible and claustrophobic. In the following months, her stomach started to get larger; in that time Danae finally knew what had happened that night. She was pregnant with the son of Poseidon.
One calm night a scream rang from Danae's bronze chamber, signaling that she was to give birth soon. Danae was sweating all over, screaming in the process, with no one to help her. A few hours later, the princess was holding her new born son, wrapped in her chiton. He had sea green eyes and jet black hair just like his father, and beautiful rosy cheeks.
"My son," Danae spoke, "Perseus."
Well, how was it? It's going to be a sort of retelling of the myth of Perseus, this time with Percy Jackson. All the other characters will come in the later chapters. Please review!
