I wish not to solve a crime

I wish not to go outside

I fear I'm wasting time

So I shall make this clear

I want to wish you a merry Christmas

And a very happy new year.

Holmes read this card that Watson had left for him; he had never had a real Christmas card before. He was touched by her attempt to wish him season's greetings, but she should know by now that a simple card would not make him happier.

Yet, that odd Christmas scene on the front with its white snow and old village and carollers with the Christmas tree was pleasing. It seemed to bring hope that the Christmas season would be good, that even with her gone he would be alright without her.

He smiled to himself at the thought of her, her long black hair and perfect smile, even with no cases she made the day good. He got up from his chair and placed the simple card on the mantle, and then he whispered to himself.

"Merry Christmas Watson"

Not that he knew that she was standing right around the corner, having forgot her purse and coming back to get it. She smiled knowing her little attempt got through to him.

Merry Christmas Sherlock, she thought to herself, and a happy new year.

I wish to all my fellow elementary fans and writers a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. May you never miss an episode of elementary ever again! -putyourrecordson
