"That's sure a lot o' words," JD commented as the Judge wound up his speech.
"He's just sayin' he's proud o' ya," Buck explained, his own eyes misty. "We all are." He took JD's hand and placed an object in it as Judge Travis called for him to join him.
Buck watched with pride. No one would object that JD was the town's biggest hero for he'd saved them all single-handedly. Buck only wished he didn't have to look like one giant wound to prove it.
JD looked at the pocket watch he held in astonishment. Buck cheered him on.
