Never say Never (Fan-Based book 4 to the Hunger Games Trilogy)

I woke up to the sound of singing, not beautiful singing but my sister singing. I don't want to be rude or anything but it is not the best and I have no idea why she intends to sing 24/7 if she knows it too. I throw a pillow at her in hope that she will be quiet but all it does is aggravate her and she sings louder, more horrible, and in some type of accent. I groan.

"Kat will you please stop singing" She looks at me with a grin

"I was actually timing to see how long it would take you to ask me" I rolled my eyes. Sometimes she can be so annoying. I slip on a sweatshirt that read McKinney for President and some sweatpants to go with it. I rush down stairs once I see the time. 9:00. I'm late. Again. I grab a banana and step out the door.

"Bye Mom, Dad" I quickly close the door before they can ask me questions that would cause me to be even later. Running to the store, I check my reflection in the window, trying to get a glimpse of what I look like before I go inside. Looks matter you know.

I open the door casually and look around. Nobody's here so I can act as if I was here on time, I sigh.

Right now I'm in the Hub, a local trading market where I got a job at. I don't actually need the job but I signed up for it because my mom said that I had to get out more of the time instead of lounge in the house. But now that school is open again, I need it more than ever.

If I don't have this job, I won't be able to graduate, an don't graduate that means that I would be a failure. I tried telling my sister about the concept once but she has the attention span of a fish. The one time she actually listened she then asked me, "Mom and Dad aren't failures and they didn't graduate." They aren't failures because they won a freaking Hunger Games, they were instantly Millionaires or something and they didn't have to pay taxes. They act like it's not worth it but belive me, if I had the chance I'd take it.

I walk behind the cash register and start to press random buttons when Kelly walks in. " Hi" I say but she only smiles at me. I don't care, I like that way. She's a year younger than me at school, and good friends with Kat. She is always at our house and whenever she sees me staring at her she seems to blush. I can't help it, sometimes I just look in her direction and get lost in thought and by the time I know it she is looking away uncomfortably. Why do I always mess things up.

I walk over to where she is standing and she looks at me.

"Is your sister at home?" she asks

"Yeah" I reply. It starts to become an awkward silence until she brings up a new topic.

"So did you hear?" she looks at me intensely and I feel uncomfortable.

"About what?" She looks at me in surprise. I don't know about her but I don't want to be a gossip girl so that's probably why I don't know about whatever's happinging.

"Since you don't already know, I can't tell you without your sisters' permission.." she looks down at the ground and starts organizing the soap from the shampoo.

I nod. I start to wonder what it is until I hear a bell ring indicating that the door has been opened. I look up to see my sister. She looks at me, then back at Kelly. Then back at me. She walks over and grab Kelly's arm in a We need to talk type of look on her face. I look concerned but then shrug it off. I go back to the button machine and press away
