"What you have to decide... is how you want your life to be. If your forever was ending tomorrow, would this be how you'd want to have spent it? Listen, the truth is, nothing is guaranteed. You know that more than anybody. So don't be afraid. Be alive."

Shining Hope

Jack's POV

I landed on Jamie's front porch. Then he immediately came out. I always joke he can sense my presence since he can always tell when I'm at his house.

He rushes forward and gives me a hug. I hug him back gently. Then he looks up at my face to find the tears gliding down.

"What's the matter Jack?" He asks.

I kneel down so were the same height. I take a deep breath and tell him the truth.

It started snowing. Not too hard. Just light enough for the last snow before spring.

Jamie and I played with all his friends. We had a great time even though you could tell everyone was trying not to cry. We had the best snowball fight ever. Once it got dark though, we all parted ways.

We reached Jamie's porch. "Don't go." His voice sounded strained like he was trying to hold back tears.

"I have to." I whispered. "But I'll be back next year."

"You can't just leave now that you told me. You have to stay." Now the tears were spilling over.

"Jamie, don't make this harder. I have to go. It's too warm for me here." Then I levitated a couple inches off the porch.

"I don't even get a hug?" Jamie asked.

I feel back down to the porch and we embraced. Then I flew off into the night.

"No crying." I chanted to myself.

"Jamie. You and I are related." I mutter. "Your my sisters however many greats-grandchild."

"What? Is that even possible?" Jamie asked with wide eyes.

"It is. I saved my sister from falling into a pond. That's how I became Jack Frost."

"So your my great-great-great-great," He stopped when he saw the look I was giving him. "Granduncle?"

I cringed. "Just call me Uncle Frost. Please."

He laughs and then nods. "Okay."

"Do you know what happened to my sister?"

"What's her name?" Jamie asked.

"Elizabeth Frost." I state.

"She lived a good long life. She named her son Jack after you. My mom says that her grandma says that her grandma always told the story about her brother saved her. You know, this all makes sense now!" Jamie exclaimed. "Does this mean you're going to come around more often?"

"Actually, this is the last time before next winter. I have to go to Europe next and make it snow there." He stated.

"What? No! Jack you can't leave!" Then his expression turned sad. "Why would you tell me now?"

"I just found out." I confess.

"But why not wait to tell me next year?"

"I thought you would want to know." I mutter looking down at my feet.

"I do, but I just don't want to see you go."

"I know kid. Tell you what. Let's go play with your friends. We can make this the best snowball fight ever before I leave."

Jamie nodded and then brushed away tears. "Okay." We then got all his friends. He even told them that I was leaving and not coming back until next year. He also said no crying.

It was the best snowball fight ever, but all fun must end sometime.

Jamie will be the first person I see next winter.

Please review! I have tons more ideas and I would like to know what you all think!
