"Is she awake yet?"
Tumblebrutus peeked into the tiny bicycle tire where his new sister was sleeping.
"Tumble! Shhh! Limberleigh's asleep. She'll be asleep for a pretty long time." Jellylorum scolded her kitten.
Alonzo poked at Limberleigh. "She's fuzzy," he said.
"Of course; she was born two days ago." Cassandra said, appearing out of nowhere.
"Hi, Cass." Alonzo said. Cassandra bent over the bicycle tire and scooped up the baby.
"No... wait... Cassie..." Tumblebrutus started. The baby's eyes opened, she reached up, and grabbed Cassandra's ear.
"MMMEEEEOOOWWW!" Cassandra dropped the newborn and mewed in pain. Before Limberleigh fell to the ground, Alonzo grabbed her.
The tiny kitten looked up at him. "Ohhh, no." Alonzo said.
"Ya know, Lonzy, Yer ear's been lookin a dif'rint shape lately." Rumpelteazer said.
Alonzo glared at her. Teazer turned her head to view the so-called ear from different angles.
"Kinda looks loik a squashed raspberry." she said.
"Oh, joy." he said expressionless.
"Oi was thinking, can Oi go ova to yer box and see 'er?" she asked.
"...and she reached up and pulled and smashed my ear to deformity." Alonzo explained.
"Me, too! Ya shoulda been theh when she grabbed Jelly's ear," Teazer said. "'Ave any oideas?" she finished.
Mistoffelees stared at the ground. He pawed at a patch of grass and stared up at the sky.
"Ummm, I'm still a kitten and I don't have many powers yet, but I think... wait! I'm sensing it!" He pawed at the grass aggressively until it was just a bare spot. "I'm not ready to do it yet, though." he said.
"Why not? If you don't do it, the whole race of Jellicles will have deformed ears!" Alonzo said.
Misto glared at him. "I'm gonna hafta hold the baby myself and put some sort of magic junk on her." he said.
"Do it please? For me?" Alonzo said. He looked at Misto with huge eyes.
"Fine, whatever." Misto said.
He hesitantly picked up the kitten. She flashed her black eyes at him and grabbed his tail.
Misto bit his lip. "I'm not gonna drop her. I'm not gonna drop her. I'm not." he thought. Limberleigh put the tail in her mouth and bit down with her gums. Mistoffelees quickly poured the purple stuff on her. She opened her mouth and Misto pulled his tail free. Limberleigh looked at her paws, now dyed purple. Her eyes squinted, she plopped her paw down, and...
"MEEEEEEWWWWWWWW!" she cried until she fell asleep.
"As long as she's purple, the dye will keep her from destroying other Jellicles." Misto explained.
Asparagus came in and saw them. "Mistoffelees? I think you better go home now. Rumpelteazer, you, too." he said.
After Tumblebrutus and Alonzo were asleep, the kitten crawled around in their tiny lair.
She climbed into the bucket of drinking water. The water washed off the purple dye.
Limberleigh plopped down on Tumblebrutus and opened her mouth. You know what happened next.
