Disclamer: We do not Gundam Seed, T.T

Watching the Sunset

It was a quiet, peaceful beach, as there was only the sound of waves pounding the sandy shore, the sound of gulls flapping their wings against the backdrop of a magnificent sunset, the sound of trees swaying softly to the wind, the sound of…..

'Are you enjoying yourself?'

25-year old Athrun Zala turned to a petite blonde, more widely known his girlfriend, Cagalli Yula Athha.

'Hmmm,' Cagalli replied sarcastically, pretending to think. 'Other than these infernal crabs that seem to be married to my skin, the seagulls with their stupid squawks, your arm that is not around me, yes, I seem to be having one hell of a time.'

Athrun laughed at Cagalli's slightly cross face, snaking his arm around her curvy waist.

'Don't you dare laugh at me!' Cagalli warned, her eyes flashing with anger.

Athrun laughed again, kissing her on the forehead. 'All right, I apologize, but don't I get a thanks for showing you this?'

'If you were anyone else, Zala,' muttered Cagalli, her brows still furrowed. 'You would be dead by now.'

Athrun pulled her closer to him, savoring their time together. Of course, they didn't have much of that, because Cagalli was, after all, the Princess of Orb. Heaps on heaps of official documents adorned her desk eveyday, making her work like a maniac 24/7.

A long pause ensued, then…..

'Thanks, that good enough?' murmured Cagalli, blushing. That was so unlike her. Normally, instead of a 'thanks', the person beside her would have gotten a black eye. But hey, this was Athrun Zala, her boyfriend, right?

'I love her,' thought Athrun, smiling. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even notice Cagalli, getting more annoyed by the minute, trying to get his attention.

'Hellooooooo, Athrun? Aaaaaaathrun, are you in there?' exclaimed Cagalli, trying with no avail to get his attention. 'Earth to Zala! Helloooooo! Are you even listening to me, you son of a b-'

Athrun, clever as he was, silenced her with a simple kiss on the lips. Cagalli, surprised, (luckily for Athrun) didn't give him one of her signature punches.

Cagalli tore away from the little liplock, sporting a brilliant blush.

Athrun laughed again, saying, 'You still blush when I kiss you?'

Cagalli's blush deepened a hundredfold as she muttered, 'Don't push it.'

'Why not?' asked Athrun, grinning widely.

Her adorable blush now gone, Cagalli growled, her eyes flashing menacingly once again, 'I'm warning you, one more word, and I won't be merciful.'

Silence, and a kiss on her forehead was the only reply she received.

Cagalli sat stone-still, staring at the fiery sunset, trying to formulate a retort for that.

'So much like her,' thought Athrun, also gazing at the sinking sun.

'I hate you,' said Cagalli, apparently not able to come up with anything better.

Athrun surprised her yet again today, oh yes.

'I love you,' he whispered, looking straight into her amber orbs.

Cagalli accepted the reply, smiled, and leaned on his comfortable shoulders.

The young couple watched the sunset as it ended with a spectacular display of colours, the sea as it blended with the sky, and, of course, each other.

Silence reigned again, and it loosened its hold only when a scuffle of moving feet and the start of car engines filled the air.

Only then, did the sands and sea watch the last, dying embers of the sun alone.
