The Door of Hope
There's a reason Arnold usually always answered the door to the Boarding House whenever company arrived. A special reason, possibly the only thing that was keeping Arnold going, really.
He opened it time after time, a smile on his face, hoping it was the two people who left him. Hoping they had finally returned to him. It was never them, always someone else. And his smile would always falter before the person outside could notice.
And after a while... the smiles stopped showing.
Many times a week friends would visit. Sid, Stinky, Harold, Rhonda, Gerald.. and he'd always try to solve their problems or just be there to talk with them, the usual... But one day it was different, one day when he answered the door he wasn't expecting himself to smile.
But he did.
He had seen a certain blonde: Her hair was down, she'd been caught in the rain. Seeing this a bright smile, maybe his brightest, spread across his face.
He didn't know why he'd smiled for the first time in two years, especially not for someone who treated him badly. Either way, he was going to be hospitable and offer her entrance into his home.
"Need some place to stay until the rain clears?"
Nodding she rung out her hair, stomped her foot, looked him right in the eyes and said, "Doi, Football-head. Can't you see I'm soaked to the bone here? Crimeny! I'm freezing out here!"
Neverminding her attitude nor words he smiled brighter as he said, "Come on in, Helga. I'll get you a towel."
Yes, usually he'd frown at the stupid name calling and naturally he'd huff a bit about her being so grumpy. Today, however, things were different and he didn't know why. But he was determined to find out, no matter how long it took.
With Helga by his side, he decided. At least, that's what he hoped.
Okay, so.. review if you want. Tell me if its any good and if I should write an atual chaptered story for Hey Arnold! :D
