He won't give up.

It's a promise that he made to himself a long time ago, though he can't name dates or times.

Perhaps it was after the accident, when everything that he knew and loved was stolen from underneath him, and all that he had left was a neglectful father, a few of his sister's stuffed animals, and a couple of scrapbooks.

Perhaps it was when he started writing letters to his deceased sister like a normal child write journal entries to themselves.

Perhaps it was when the ring came, packaged snugly within a strong, beige wrapper.

He had been so happy when he received it. It was proof that maybe, just maybe his father hadn't forgotten him, proof that he wasn't just some waste of space.

It was proof that he wasn't invisible.

But that fragile hope was extinguished as a new pattern invaded his life.

It soon became a constant, never-ending cycle, one in which he would move, make new friends, and be forced to move again.

But throughout the entire ordeal, he held on, even though there were times when he came so close to giving up, to doing something drastic.

Now that he looks back, he has no idea how he's managed to hold on for so long, but he has.

Maybe it's because he has someone to live for, someone that had never gotten a chance to live for herself.

Maybe, just maybe, that someone has been cheering him on, making sure that, even though he doesn't know it, he's never completely alone in this lonely world.

Maybe he has Amane.
