His eyes had only ever grasped the monochromic colours that drifted by; attracted to the allure of silver, the grey of storms, the colour of Edgar's burnt home. But she added firmness and warmth to his dim world. She added poles of black and white to secure in place his once unmarked boundaries with their varying degrees of pent-up sadness. And when she was done, she began to unravel the tangle of his threads, undoing the knots, smoothening the frayed ends; merrily bleaching and dying the seams and strands as she traveled through the maze. She was pulling him apart much too quickly, her skilful fingers weaving through, tugging, pulling, wrenching at his metaphoric heartstrings. And the worst part of her methodical chaos, was that he was not in control of his own self. He also just happened to enjoy her... treatment. She gave him her heart to keep; a golden, pulsing heart to keep safe in his cold embrace; to wrap his lifeless fingers around. But what could he do? He needed this in exchange to know that his heart was safe and sound in her own.
