"I'm going to Romania after graduation."
Tonks looked up at Charlie, surprised. He was avoiding her eyes.
"What?" she asked confused.
"I got a scholarship to study dragons there, Nymph. And… well, I really want to take it."
She looked away, across the dormitory, feeling his arms tighten ever so slightly around her.
"oh." Was all she could say.
This couldn't be happening. He had told her he would stay here in England with her, no matter what. He had told her they would always be together.
"I know you just got accepted to do your auror training… but… I really want to go for this. This is my chance."
She just nodded absentmindedly. Running a hand through her hair, he kissed her cheek. "I know you want me to stay here with you… but it's not like its forever, and we can still write, and ill visit when ever I can…" he sounded overly hopeful, but Tonks knew he was thinking the same thing; neither of them could keep a long distance relationship like this going. It was hard enough as is. Biting her lip, Tonks sat up, swinging her legs out of bed. Charlie sat up behind her, kissing her neck now.
"I… I was really looking forward to… everything with you." Tonks muttered.
"I know… I'm sorry."
She knew he felt bad, but his mind was made up. This was what he wanted. And she wanted him to be happy.
"I'll miss you." She whispered. Shouldn't she be crying? This was it… why wasn't she crying?
"I'll miss you too hun… but we'll always be friends."
She winced at that. He didn't notice.
"So… can we just enjoy the time we have left with each other?" he asked her. She nodded numbly, turning to kiss him, wrapping her arms tightly around him. She was going to miss Charlie Weasley.
It wasn't until later that night she realised why she hadn't cried. She wasn't angry; she wasn't upset. No, this was something different. She was heartbroken.
She would always love Charlie. He was the first boy she had ever really, really loved. But he broke her heart that day. And she didn't think she could ever forgive him for that.
