AN: I thought the ending for the ep. sucked so this is what I came up with...I thought it would be cute.
Inverse Matrices
Amita had taken the job at Harvard. It was a difficult decision and it had been a hard transition for all involved. Then Charlie had shown up on her doorstep and promised her the world. It was the worst thing he could have possibly done. She kicked him out and told him to never come back, meaning it at the time, but wishing afterwards that he didn't listen.
He didn't. When she came out of her placeto go to a meeting, he was curled up asleep in front of her door. She stared down at him for a minute before slipping back inside and coming back outside with a blanket. She covered him up before stepping over him and heading on her way.
Charlie's insistance wore her down, and she ended up moving back to California to accept the three year job at CalSci. It was just as good as the Harvard job, and Charlie was great about everything. They were able to work together, and eventually, gradually, moved into a relationship. She always came before his work and he was a really good boyfriend.
It had been exactly a year since Charlie had, quite literally, shown up on Amita's doorstep.
"Hey Charlie," Amita said, walking into the absent-minded professor's office and dropping a kiss on his forehead.
Charlie grabbed her arm and pulled her down for a proper kiss. "I have a problem for you to work on," he said breathlessly when they pulled away. He pointed to the chalk board.
Amita frowned as she studied the board. "It's just inverse matrices," she said in a 'duh' tone.
Charlie shrugged. "I know." He'd made up the problem. "So work it out."
"Bossy," Amita joked, nudging his shoulder. Her mind was already whirring and she went over to the problem and started working on it.
Charlie grinned to himself when she was finished.
23 9 12 12 0 25 15 21 0 13 1 18 18 25 0 13 5
Amita frowned at the numbers before slowly writing the proper letters underneath them. WILL YOU MARRY ME
She slowly turned around with wide eyes and Charlie held out the diamond ring that had been in his pocket for weeks. It was specially picked out just for her.
He was a bit disconcerted when Amita burst out laughing. "Only you would propose with math," she said between laughs as she launched herself at him. "Yes, I'll marry you."
Charlie pulled away from the kisses that he was being smothered with. "It seemed appropriate," he said with a grin as he slipped the ring onto her left ring finger.
Amita kissed him fully on the lips and pulled away. "I love you," she said sincerely.
"I love you too," he said seriously before grinning once more and kissing her passionately.
"Hey Charlie..." Don trailed off when he walked in on his brother making out with his girlfriend. "Sorry." He wasn't really.
Amita and Charlie came up for air, grinning like a couple of loons. "Guess what?" Amita asked excitedly.
"What?" Don asked cluelessly.
"You're about to get the sister you insisted you never wanted," Charlie said impishly.
Don's jaw dropped when he saw the ring on Amita's finger. "Chuck!" he said when he got over the initial shock. "I didn't think you had it in ya!"
"Don't call me Chuck," Charlie said cheerfully. Nothing could ruin his mood at that moment. Things were going his way. He had gotten the girl and everything seemed to be falling into place for him.
END-I studied 'Using Inverse Matrices in Real Life' a while back and thougt it would be a great way for Charlie to propose.
