"Felicity Smoak you are going to tell me what you want." Laurel stood with her arms crossed, staring down the subject of her interrogation. "I'm going to do something for your birthday and I am not going to take No for an answer. "
"I don't like to make a big deal over my birthday." Felicity said exasperated. "We've been so busy."
"Everyone needs to have a break sometime." Laurel said, her tone softening.
The sound of footsteps coming down the stairs brought their attention away from their discussion.
"You two look like you're up to something." Oliver said walking up to the computer monitors.
"Nope. Not a thing." Felicity said innocently.
"Girl stuff." Laurel said turning her attention Oliver.
Oliver looked between the two women confused.
"Well, I am due in court in just a bit so I need to be going." Laurel said grabbing up her keys and her phone. "Bye, Oliver. We'll finish this conversation later, Felicity."
Oliver watched Laurel leave for a moment before turning back to Felicity, "So, what's going on?"
"Just girl stuff", Felicity said spinning around in her chair to face the console. "Did you come down here for a reason?"
"Yeah, I was going to get a work out in."
Well, there goes me being able to get any work done. Felicity sighed. "I should probably go to my job too. I mean other job. The one that actually pays me, before I get fired. Not that I look at this like a job. I do I just have to…"
"Felicity."
"Yeah?"
"Go."
Felicity's hand was on the Palmer Technologies when her phone began to buzz. She shook her head when she saw the Caller ID. She thought about hitting ignore, but didn't. "Laurel, I told you that I don't want a big fuss over my birthday."
"I know, and I respect your position."
"Why do I feel like I am in a courtroom and about to be cross examined?" Felicity asked lightly as she headed toward the elevator.
"Because you know me too well."
"Good point."
"Just hear me out."
"Fine." Felicity stopped outside the elevator.
"I was thinking we could have a girl's night in. You know just the two of us. I could bring some sparkling cider and we could watch movies and just veg out on the couch in our pajamas."
"You are not going to let me out of this are you?"
"Nope. Lawyer. I argue for a living. And you and I both need a night of fun."
Felicity threw her head back as she closed her eyes. "Fine."
"Great. You don't have to do a thing. I will take care of everything." Felicity could almost see Laurel smiling triumphantly through the phone.
"Uh, mom I've got to go. A friend of mine has brought some movies over here for us to watch. No, it's not that cute guy from the office. Bye, mom." Felicity sighed as she plodded toward the door.
Felicity looked through to the peep hole and saw Laurel standing outside, she waved the sparkling cider. "Oh, thank you, Laurel. You saved me from my mother."
"She can not be that bad." Laurel smiled.
"Oh, you have no idea." Felicity said. "Come on in. Where are your pajamas?"
'Don't hate me, Felicity. " Laurel said scrunching her face up.
"What did you do?" Felicity asked she could feel her pulse quicken.
"I brought company." Laurel answered sheepishly. "I figured we weren't the only ones who could use a night off."
"What?" Felicity felt a hot blush begin to spread across her face as she looked down at her Mighty Mouse pajamas and glanced back at her apartment. She hadn't worried with cleaning it knowing that Laurel wouldn't care. And frankly with one real job and one secret job cleaning hadn't been high on her priority list lately.
"Is it okay if we all come in?" Laurel asked hesitantly
Felicity took a deep breath. " You may proceed counselor." She swung the door wide open and stepped to the side.
Roy walked past carrying an easel. "Thanks for letting us in. It was getting cold out there. Nice jammies by the way."
"I thought you were used to freezing your butt off by now." Felicity shot back.
"The leather is surprising warm." Roy retorted.
Diggle smiled as he walked him. "Lila sent over some cannolis. Thought they were a good bribe."
"Definitely. Tell her thank you."
"I've got the latkas from the bakery down the street here." Oliver said as he came in.
"How did you even know that I like that place?" Felicity shook her head. "Never mind."
"Okay, it is guys vs girls Pictionary." Laurel called out, entering last.
Raucous erupted from the girl's team as an argument broke out on the other side of the living room.
"There is no way on Earth that is a cow, man." Diggle said.
"That is a cow and it is jumping over the moon." Roy handed the marker to Diggle
"That is no cow."
Laurel caught up her breath. "Sorry to spring this on you, but I didn't think you would agree to it if I didn't."
"You're right. This is exactly what we all needed. "
Felicity and Laurel clinked their mugs of cider together. "Now, let's kick these guys butts."
