This is a short piece I wrote for a friend. She wanted to see what Harry's reaction might be if Heero threated him seriously. I had already started Masks and Mirrors, which this doesn't fit into, but she suggested I go ahead and post it. If anybody wants to fiddle with it and write more, they are quite welcome to.
Disclaimer: Not mine, never were, never will be. *sigh*
Heero glared at the young man he had been partnered with for the class. If it weren't for his slightly oriental features the two of them could have been mistaken for brothers with messy hair and brightly colored eyes, his brown and blue to the other boy's black and green. To run into him here, at the school Dr. J had set up for him was too much coincidence for him.
Glancing around to make sure the rest of the fencing class wasn't paying attention to them, Heero stepped closer and whispered menacingly, "I'll kill you."
The other boy's reaction was definitely not what he was expecting. Instead of looking fearful or, at the very least shocked, the boy laughed.
"You'll have to wait your turn, Heero," the boy said easily as he pulled his helmet off and walked out of the class.
Heero covered his shock as best he could, as he stepped up beside the walking enigma to demand quietly, "What do you mean?"
Hard, haunted emerald eyes flashed to his face, then back to hallway they were walking through. "Yours is not the only war being waged in this world. My battles just don't make the global news networks. I've been marked for death since before I was two years old, Heero Yuy, and many have tried to collect that contract. No one has managed it yet. If I survive this war, maybe I'll let you have a shot as well."
Heero stopped stock still in the hallway as the other boy kept walking. Marked for death as a child? Who is this kid?!
