Today is April Fool's, but it is also Fred and George Weasley's birthday. Rather fitting, don't you think?
Disclaimer: I do not own Fred and George or Harry Potter.
"So what do you want for your birthday, Fred? George?"
The twins turned to each other and grinned then said simultaneously, "Bananas."
Molly Weasley was flummoxed. "What?" Then she asked a little hesitantly, "This isn't a trick, is it? I mean, I know its April Fool's and all, but-"
"Bananas, Mum," Fred interrupted.
Their mother blinked. "But…why?"
George gave his mother a 'really?' look. "Are you sure you want to know?"
"I mean," said Fred, "all we have is a simple request. We just asked for bananas."
"You know," George added, "those long, curved, yellow things."
Mrs. Weasley decided to ignore their cheek. "Yes, I heard you. But I would like to know why before I get you…bananas."
"Well, think about it, Mum," George said. "When was the last time we had bananas?"
Molly eyed her son. "Never, but-"
"Exactly," cut off Fred, "so we thought, for our birthday, we'd like to try something new."
Molly Weasley stared at them. "Bananas."
George grinned. "That's what we said."
"I see," Molly pressed her lips together. "And does anyone else know about this?"
Fred and George glanced at each other and then said together, smiling broadly, "Nope!"
"You're not playing a prank on me, right? It's April Fool's so-and you are Fred and George-"
"Glad you think so highly of us," Fred said brightly.
"Really Mum," George sniffed, winking at his twin. "It means a lot."
Molly Weasley sighed. "Do you want a bunch, or just separate?"
"Yay!" Fred and George cheered. George turned to his mother. "A bunch would do just fine," he now winked at her. "You never know when we'll…crave more bananas."
Mrs. Weasley pursed her lips. "Right. Okay, I'll see what I can do."
Fred and George exchanged looks. She would soon regret that…
Happy B-Day, F & G!
