"Zola is asleep" Amelia whispered, from Meredith's bedroom door, looking back at where she'd just left Zola's door ajar. "Good, thank you… how many time did she get you to read that book?" Mer said, her hand sliding onto her page to mark it. "Only twice, she was beat from school today I think" her last few words were distorted by a yawn.

"You seem pretty beat yourself! Are you anemic or something, I swear you do nothing but sleep?" Mer said, looking Amelia up and down. Amelia pursed her lips and shrugged, moving into the room. "Didn't you just finish that book?" she said, perching at the end of the bed. She leaned heavily on her arm, resting her head on her shoulder. "Yeah, I thought I'd read it again, I've not got much else to do." Amelia smiled, looking down, fiddling with the creases in the bed sheet.

"Amelia…" Meredith started,

"Mer don't, I know what you're going to say… I know okay" she met Meredith's eyes before flopping down onto the bed. "I know you're not done Amelia, I know you're not… and I don't know the fine detail of what's going on between you two, but I know there's love there, and you and I both know that counts for something…" Amelia was lying on her back, her arm slung over her eyes. "I know" she croaked, she clenched her teeth hard, trying to maintain composure. "You need to sort this soon Amelia, you don't have forever" she said, sternly. Amelia threw her arm down to her side and sighed. "I know."

They sat in silence then, Meredith looked back down at her book and Amelia lay with her hands resting on her stomach, raising and lowering with each steady breath. The sound of Ellis moaning, seeped down the hallway and into the room. Amelia made a start to get up but Meredith stopped her, "Stay, I've got her" she said, leaving the room. Amelia settled back down against the bed, her eyes fixed at the ceiling. "I need to sort this soon, I don't have forever" she thought out loud in a quiet whisper.

She closed her eyes, soothed by the rhythm of her own breathing.

Meredith came back to her room and found Amelia curled up on her left side. Her hands were folded beneath her cheek. She stood for a moment and observed her. She was finding herself oddly worried about her these past couple of days, a feeling she was often able to avoid with indifference and choice ignorance. But she was not used to Amelia being so damn quiet about things, and although she tried not to be, she felt worried. She grabbed a blanket shook it out, placing it over Amelia, who stirred slightly, mumbling "thanks," before drifting off again.

"Hey, if you see… oh" Alex poked his head round the door, stuttering when saw Amelia. Meredith settled back down on the bed, lifting her book onto the lap. "I was going to say if you see Amelia, tell her I'm having my bed tonight, but…"

"Yeah I guess she's in here tonight"

Alex looked from Meredith back to Amelia, then back to Mer. "Whats got into her recently, she's acting… weird… is she..."

"Just… don't get into it… it's her and Owen's thing, I don't think we should be speculating" Mer said, keeping her voice hushed. Alex raised his eyebrows, nodding. "Alright.. Okay, well, goodnight then" Alex said leaving Mer alone again. She gazed at Amelia for a moment, sighing, she thought of how Derek would be, what he'd say. She looked down and smoothed her palm against the page of her book, trying to collect her thoughts again, before she dove back into the it.
