AN: Just felt like saying this is my first fic, and it's kinda short, but I had the idea and went with it. I don't own anything recognizable.

Phone calls were not something that teenagers did, normally Jude was included in that, but ever since Connor had moved to LA that changed. He, Callie, and Brandon were the only ones home and Jude was talking to Connor. Jude could hear the music flowing out from beneath Brandon's door, and he recognized it, though it took him a few minutes to know where from; as soon as he did he was angry. Brandon's band had played it at the party that they weren't ever supposed to have; when they went camping Mariana had told him to play it, thinking it was for Lu, but Jude could tell that it clearly hadn't been. But Brandon had quit the band, for Idyllwild, he had no reason to be playing it. He was mad at Brandon, but even more so he was mad at Callie. Why was she doing this? Jeopardizing this for them again?

"Jude?" Connor asked over the phone.

"Yeah, I'm sorry." Pause. Slowly; "I gotta go, I'll talk to you later," Jude didn't wait for a response before he hung up.

He considered telling Brandon to stop, he got up to do so, but when he walked past the room with Mariana's name on the door he stopped there instead. Callie was the only one inside after all.

"Ya know you're lucky we're the only ones home. You might consider telling your boyfriend to stop playing that if you guys don't wanna get caught," Jude said loudly, causing Callie to slam her book shut.

"What are you talking about Jude?" Callie asked, as if Jude would believe her playing dumb.

"I'm the youngest Callie, not the dumbest. Listen" He paused then, so Callie could hear the notes Brandon was playing, the tune they both knew was for her. "You know what I'm talking about."

"Dammit Jude," She said, pushing past him.

"So this is my fault? I'm not the one dating our brother" He started to yell, slowed; "He's our brother, or did you forget" he lowered his voice back to normal, "when you lied to the judge?"

"I didn't lie Jude."

"You did, and don't try to tell me you didn't. I'm not stupid Callie, I'm not."

"I never said that you were."

"Just tell him to stop. Before you ruin everything. And don't you dare close his door behind you when you do."

Callie didn't say anything.

"Stop being so selfish Callie. We've been over this. We finally have it good, we're finally safe. We have a family, or did you forget that too? Don't ruin it for me just because you're in love with our brother."

"I'm sorry. We just thought—"

"What did you think that somehow made it okay?"

"That I wasn't getting adopted. We thought I wasn't getting adopted, that it wasn't going to happen."

"We're still a family even if you weren't. Why did you think that anyway?"

"We thought that somebody from Girl's United was going to tell. On us, Jude. And then it wouldn't have gone through."

"Wait, so you thought you weren't getting adopted because you were with him, so then you… You're an idiot Callie, an idiot."

"I'm sorry," She tried to hug him but he pushed her away. "I'm sorry Jude."

"Just tell him to stop. Make him stop. Stop Callie, just stop."

When he saw Callie go in he made sure the door didn't close behind her; then he made his way back to his room. He walked over to his bed and picked up his phone. One new message, from Connor.

Connor: u alrite?

Jude: just family

Jude heard his phone go off, Connor was saying something else, but Jude didn't bother to look. The music had stopped and he heard one door slam, and then another. Jude returned to the homework he was supposed to be doing in the first place. A few seconds later something new came pouring out from Brandon's room. Jude sighed, maybe in relief, though he wasn't quite sure.
