Okay, guys. Tell me I'm not the only one who cried when the dog died. I mean, seriously. That was awful.

Anyway, I had to pick a part of The Odyssey to represent "artistically," and I chose Argus' little scene. I really had no option but to write a poem, seeing as I'm not exactly a variously gifted person, but whatever. It'd be nice to get some feedback before I turn it in, so please review. Hope you like it!

(P.S, NO, I do not like this book. I just... had to post this. XP)

Argus

Stretched upon the wretched filth, cast out from human care,

His eyes and ears still longing, his senses wait, aware;

For someday soon, he hopes, believes, his master will arrive;

Though others doubt, still he has faith—the master is alive.

For years, he lays, no hope in sight, his body weak and frail,

But though he may be old and weak, his hope will never fail.

At last, a step, a strong, sure voice; his ears rise as they come;

His spirits rise as joy descends, his tail begins to drum.

He lifts his head, his dark eyes search, the world grows swiftly bright,

As—yes, at last—his eyes are laid upon a welcome sight.

His master, friend, his heart's desire, brought home by the tide;

His ears lay flat, his heart contented, as hope meets its bride.

Though youth's flee keeps him tethered back from full reunion's bliss,

He finds his peace in seeing, at long last, a scene like this.

His hope fulfilled, he drops his head; his master strides away,

Swallowed by death's shadow, there, forever, he will lay.

I know I don't do it justice, but I hope it was good. Let me know what you think! ;)

Thanks for reading!

God bless!
